Hello everyone.

I would like to ask someone here who is Japanese or your spouse is Japanese or your acquaintance who have already approved by US embassy in Tokyo or Japan with CR-1.

I am at the stage of waiting for my interview next month and still gathering my documents.

So I just would like to get some information as one of my references.

My question is ;

Was you requested to submit family register not only the new one (composed after your marriage) but also the old one which was mentioned before your marriage named "Genkoseki tohon" (原戸籍謄本)?

Really apprecite your comments or information.

I did K-1, so I can't answer your question. But I suggest you to post your question in this 'All Japan Filers' thread ;)

hi

I am Japanese (beneficiary) and had the interview in March.

My updated after marriage Koseki has records of name change.

I don't exactly know what 原戸籍謄本 is, but 戸籍抄本(Koseki Shohon) worked for me.

Every city has slightly different format for Koseki though, I believe.

Thank you so much to all for your response. I just found out today.

Yes, It seems that it should be okay not to submit such kind of family register document such as 原戸籍謄本. which is old fashioned family register used before the data was computerized back in 2002 or something.

I just have prepared my current family register( Koseki tohon) and previous Koseki Shyohon before marriage just in case.

Yurika& Jim; Appreciate your reference.

yukuster: Thank you very much for sharing your experience which was really helpful.
