Hi everyone

Unfortunately my visa application is still pending. My fiancé is a full time student and we had a co sponsor that was his dad and I could pretty say his dad income was above poverty level for the household of 4 which $ xxx, xxx. But it didn't accepted our co sponsor.

Would like to ask how much is enough to meet the above poverty level for 2 household (me and fiancé)? He has a potential job that will pay him $10 per hour full time.

I wasn't given any letter nor an email but just a 2 go paper that I need to bring in when I have submitted on 2go the current sustain income of my fiancé.

Very common for the embassy to not accept a co-sponsor with the K-1 visa.

Poverty guidelines for two is $19,662 gross income http://www.uscis.gov/sites/default/files/files/form/i-864p.pdf It appears $10/hour and a 40 hour work week will get you there. Good luck

Thank you hank! Btw what do we need to send to them?

Letter from employer stating full time employment and yearly income, if there are pay stubs send copies of those as well.

we are on the same boat when we applied my visa. My husband didnt make enough. we are allowed to get somebody to co-sponsor unfortunately nobody wants to do it.

letter from employment will not help unless he showed his paystub that shows he meet the income requirements.

I've waited until he met the income requrement and submit his paystub @US embassy after 2 weeks my visa is on my hand

you have one year to submit the RFE so hope your fiance make it

I just have a follow up question in line with this topic..

Are they gonna accept two part time jobs just to meet the poverty level? One is paying $8 the other is 9$. The work per week is 20-30hours.

Thanks for your inputs!

No issue with multiple jobs, what the embassy looks at is the income - they do not want anyone to become a public charge.

As long as the total annual income from all sources gets him over the $19K minimum, you are good. But it has to be real jobs right now, not promises of a job at some future date.

If he is supporting in his household you and himself and no one else, YES $20,000 is enough to meet the requirements of $19,662.

So many hoops to jump thru.

A few years ago when I lived in Dallas Texas I could look into a garage and see about 15 cots that were safe houses for Illegal aliens coming into the USA from Mexico, Honduras, and other South American countries.

Give them a few days here and they were standing on corners working for other people or mainly illegal aliens running business here in my area, like landscapers, etc.

Why do we reward those who come to the USA illegally, we give them path to citizenship for illegal entry

Just to add to what Greenbaum stated, US$ 20k is indeed sufficient for a household of 2 (you and him). However, he has to show that he has been filing taxes as well for this earnings, a 1040 + W2 (or 1099) or an IRS tax transcript showing a gross income of $ 20k.

Oh now I have an issue. My husband retired just last year so the taxes he filed this year has a gross of like $36000.I am wondering if it will complicate it since 2014 is all retirement income and we can show the bank deposits for his retirement.
