hi all,

Just curious couse in 2012 I got thousands of replies on my posts and whenever I am checking other posts It says 3 ppl is viewing the post, lol

I feel the same way. I'm only a new member but when I ask for assistance with something none reads the post or comments.

It seems like its a lot of people bitching that there visa didn't get approved fast enough and asking about Vawa (I don't know if its that, but you get my drift!)

Maybe everyone has moved on once they got approved and its mostly people who are just starting out that are on now?

I mean this in the nicest way possible but I personally have found this to be the MOST unsupportive forum I've every been on. Noone is happy for each other, to the point that when a "... 2014 filers" post is created half the people who post on that forum go and start a new one to about the other people got approved faster, etc.

i know it sucks waiting and I'm really not in a position to say anything about their journey bt peeps need to open up to the bigger picture. I might of got approved in 12 days but due to DOMA its been impossible for me to move to the USA for the 5 years I've been with my love.

I personally have found these forums invaluable and supportive. It does have a wealth of information and resources and has made my journey from K1 to 10 year green card relatively straightforward. It does require a certain amount of self motivation to find the information on the site and if you get stuck there are always members willing to point you in the right direction. Members of this forum, especially ones who have been around here for a while are maybe a bit jaundiced but that is on any forum.

LilSadie, I am sure you are more than aware that DOMA has been struck down. I assume that is why you are here on this site to getting help sorting out immigration. As to getting approved in 12 days, this is more to do with the luck of the draw and vagaries of how USCIS works as apposed to sexual preference, color of hair or day of the week.

But not to disappoint. Congrats on getting here and on any milestones you have passed on your immigration journey.

Thank you, goodnight and may your gods go with you",

Dave Allen.

In defense of older members on this forum. A lot of "new" members don't search but just open a new post for a question that's answered over and over again. I know there a lot of members willing to help you out when you have questions but also are getting tired of seeing the same questions over and over again.

These days the k1 and CR/IR 1 are approved quick for a lot of people and the don't bother about putting there time line in making a review about there embassy or POE. After they are done with the visa they simply just quit and don't bother about checking in again. Older members "myself included" don't log in that often anymore because they are settled in and started a new life. They are simple to busy with there new life, work, kids, friends etc.

Don't be disappointed if you don't get a answer within the first 5 minutes, you'll see that you still will get a good answer within a day.

Timeline

I quit posting in one of the other forums on here because a certain moderator would always post after me & contradict anything I said or make it seem like I wasn't giving good enough advice. I post in my regional forum a lot & just now started posting in this forum. If I see someone's post that has no answers on & I might have a LITTLE insight on, I try to post. But I also don't want to give false information. I'm just starting this process as well. I don't know everything. I don't know A LOT. I just know what I've seen here & what I've seen from my own research. There's a TON of information here but its not always so easy to find (searching for an answer within previous posts) or your situation maybe a little different so you require a slightly different answer. Hang in there. You kinda have to have a tough skin sometimes to post here. Lord knows I've had to toughen mine up.
