Are only spouses allowed inside the consulate? My mother-in-law will be taking the train with my husband the morning of the interview. Can she go inside with him? I know I am supposed to get her added to a list, but I am not sure how to do that either.

Any help is appreciated. Husband just finished his medical today and Dr said everything looks good (except blood test of course since they aren't ready yet).

No she wouldn't be allowed. Only petitioner are allowed in with Beneficiary she'll have to wait wherever they wait outside or waiting rooms or whatever.

I don't know if they'd allow a parent to wait with them or not. When my fiance went for hers, she took the train in and her father accompanied her. He just hit the shops while he waited for her. Worked out well for them and that's what I'd advise for others, but we all must make our own choices

We emailed the embassy about this back in January as well to clarify, as there are some visa's that do allow a parent, but K1 is not one of them.

So her mum waited at one of the coffee shops nearby. My fiancee showed up early to wait in line (by 7:00) and was out in 90 minutes so the wait wasn't that bad for her mom.

It's usually parents attending with an underage child. I think I read at another embassy only because they needed an interpreter and they got prior permission. Doesn't hurt to ask.

OP Send a email to embassy and ask if they can be added to the list of attendees.

Great! Thank you everyone. His mum said she is fine to go shopping. I just worry cause she is in her 70s and I wanted to make sure she had a place to rest her feet. It wasn't really about having her in the interview with him.

So close now.
