DS260 is it hard?

So after 10 months of my immigration process being a halt. I finally got a joint sponsor who qualifies and did his share! Thank God!

Now that my account is active again everything i had expired and now I'm learning of this DS260 form!

My lawyer charges $1500 to do this form (which i think is ridiculous) and my son as well as myself are beneficiaries. My husband (my sons father) is the petitioner.

Do i need to do 2 separate forms? Can i do them myself and get my lawyer to do the rest of the paperwork? I appreciate the help!

1500 for the DS260 for is ridiculous... you can do these forms yourself as well as all the other paper work.

There are many guides on the forums that can help you! It hurts me to know that attny's charge this much for such easy tasks. They are going to gather all the information from you and simply type it in to the form... if you gathered the information, why not just put it into the form yourself? There are plenty of posts here on the DS260 and questions on specific lines items.

I am going a different route so I am not doing the DS260, but when I looked at doing it, it was easy peasy providing you have the information pre-populated from the old form (most of the questions are the same except for a couple changes).

As far as I know, each applicant- including children needs their own DS260 $230 per person. Someone clarify if I'm wrong. If you're not sure can do it yourself or worried you might make a mistake, then get an attorney. You would be saving yourself some money if you do it yourself obviously.

Your lawyer is ridiculously expensive

First of all you need to pay $230 per applicant (beneficiary). Also you need to submit separate DS-260 for each applicant. The form is online. Here is a pdf version of it that someone (was it Changnoi?) posted earlier. Please take a look. It is not very difficult to fill it in yourself.

Attny charging $1500 for DS260 is more than ridiculous. It is a rip-off. You can do it. And then you have friends here in VJ to help you. Ask questions when you get stuck somewhere. God bless you.

I know there is a fee but i paid for my DS230 before they no longer accepted it so I don't have that to worry about and i paid for two (my son and myself)

Thanks for the help because I would kill to pay that price!
