Hello Everyone,

At the moment, our case is at NVC stage. They are now requesting our affidavit of support. My husband tax returns for the last three years showed that he made over 55,000 each year. However, he has been unemployed since November 2013. He wants to use assets only to supplement for income. He has 55,000 in his savings account. Owns his own house, he also owns an apartment he collects rent for and he owns a truck valued at 15,000. He does not owe any money on any of his assets. Will he be able to use assets only. He doesn't have any co sponsors and he is trying to get a job , but he has not been able to. Do you think he could be successful using just his assets only?

Hi, I am in (almost) the same boat and have asked questions on here with one response. I am the petitioner and I have about 63k to support my hubby but don't own a house or anything else. I was just transferred to the NVC stage so I haven't started my paperwork. I was wondering how your case is going and if you had luck with assets only?

best of luck!

sorry, with *no response.

Yes.

He needs to show bank statements show the cash value in there.

I'm not sure how he would show the income from the rent, but I do know for the other apartment (the one rented out) he can use that but need to have it appraised and then minus the mortgage from the appraisal value and that's how much it's worth. If he doesn't have a mortgage on it, then just the appraisal value works as well plus proof there is no mortgage.

Thanks for the responses. My husband has gotten a new job and will start Monday. So, after settling in the new job, he can do the affidavit of support. I just have faith and pray this journey will be over soon.
