Fiancé's divorce

Sorry if this is not the right place but I don't know where to post it. Maybe someone knows about divorce procedure or can move my post in the right place.

My fiancé (US Citizen) filed for divorce. It's a no contest divorce. He was married a while ago but they've been separated since years now.

Well, he filed for divorce in March 2014 and it was supposed to be finalized now. We are waiting on the final divorce decree to send our K1 application.

Now the court tells him the case is in pending because she filed a petition for amendment.

What is a petition for amendment? Does anyone know? And what is the time frame for its compliance?

Do you know what is this procedure and for how long it will delay the whole process?

Do a Google search on divorce petition for amendment. Time length will most likely vary by state and/or county.

She's amending the divorce petition because either she does not agree with it or something is missing that she wants included.

Maybe not so 'uncontested' after all.

I wouldn't expect things to move at lightening speed ...

Have no idea how long it will take for her divorce to actually become finalized. As long as it is still pending in the courts and she is not officially divorced, then it will delay your filing of the I-129F petition. She cannot file the petition until she is legally divorced and free to marry.
