Hi there,

My fiancée and and I were lucky enough last week to receive our NOA2 just eight days after the first one. We are now waiting on the NVC to contact us and the embassy here in Dublin so they can get things moving.

Since we have been apart since January we have planned a summer trip down to Spain for around two months or so, we thought its a good time to do it while the governments and embassy's take care of the paperwork. Anyway so far the process has run very smoothly and fast. We are meeting tomorrow and will both be away from out home addresses till mid July. When the NVC go to contact me or my consulate they will send a letter to my house right? Is there anything I should expect or need to do before I leave? I have most of the interview evidence ready and most other forms I could think of for the embassy for when the time comes.

Or when I get confirmation that the embassy has it can I go ahead and do the DS 160?

Just trying to get an idea of what needs to be done while we're away or is there a time limit on when you need to do it?

Thanks in advance,

Ciaran

First of all there is no problem at all with another meeting in a third country where you can both legally go. In fact it will help you with the interview because it will generate another set of photos to show the interviewer.

As for possible NVC mail, optimally you should have a friend or relative monitor your mailbox and contact you if something shows up so you can respond to it timely.

That's what I would do. Have someone check your mail while you're away, if you trust them enough allow them to open and relay the message. Most hotels have internet and you can complete some of your process together. The DS form is rather lengthly (Have a coffee with you and try not to laugh at some of the quesstions) Many questions! It took me a little bit of time to finish filling it out. If you might have to fill the DS form while you're away, tell your fiance to upload a passport picture and save it on a memory stick or send it to their email. DS form will ask you to upload the passport picture before that process is compeleted!
