Time for NVC to receive USCIS approved I-130 package

Hi,

My husband's I-130 petition in my favor was approved last week. I have been looking around and I am estimating (from what I've gathered so far) that it takes anywhere from 2 weeks to 2 months for NVC to receive the approved package from USCIS. (Yes, I have looked at Saylin NVC timetable).

My question is: what is that takes so long? Is it for USCIS to actually finally mail the package? Or is for the actual mail service to deliver it to the NVC?

I would appreciate any help I could have understanding this.

Part of it is the length of time it takes the USCIS to actually mail the package and part of it is for the NVC to get to the package in the mailroom. No, post decision status is not a good indicator of when the package was sent from the USCIS.

For me it was USCIS taking their time to send the package. I would say that's the issue most of the time with cases that take a while to get to NVC.

You usually get a notification from USCIS to say that they've sent your package

Some of the service centers send an email that they've sent your package to NVC, some don't. For example, VSC doesn't.

It seems like some of the service centres seem to wait a week or two and then do a big bulk mailing to NVC.

I actually just received an email informing me that USCIS sent my package to NVC. So, I'm assuming that from here it should take only a couple of weeks for them to get it instead of almost 2 months, right?

For us, the long wait was not USCIS. They sent it right away, but NVC claims they do not receive it. They said they didn't recieve it weeks after it was sent (which we assumed that maybe USCIS walks it over to NVC and hand delivers it to them then ). Then to actually get a case number is what we found took forever.

Twin810s, I see you expedited your case at USCIS. Did you try to expedite it at the NVC level?

Yes I tried to, they denied it at NVC...and thanks!

I noticed that we got our case number more quickly since I tried to expedite it before a case number was assigned. I think since I requested and expedite, they had to pull and assign the file a case number to review the expedite request. So I guess if that's the case, one good thing came out of it. Also, I was just happy to get out of the USCIS stage. Good luck

That sure is helpful, since I've noticed that the most majority of cases gets their case number almost a month after NVC receives their case.
