1. Will I have to wait 3 or 5 years before applying for Citizenship if I have been living with my wife (the USC) for over 3 years ?

2. Will I have to provide a Military record / discharge papers for any part of the process ?

The answer to your first question is that it's 3 years from the date your Green Card is issued. Sorry I don't know the answer to your second question.

01/01/07 - NVC generated IV Fee Bill (postmarked 1/17 though!)

01/03/07 - returned AoS Fee Bill via Priority Mail (James' shortcut)

01/15/07 - NVC generated AOS package

01/22/07 - received IV Fee Bill - overnighted back to NVC same day

01/27/07 - recieved I864 package; 01/29/07 - overnighted I864 to NVC

01/29/07 - DS230 generated (phone system not updated, email response 2/5/07)

02/05/07 - mailed DS-230 to NVC via express mail

02/20/07 - CASE COMPLETE!!

04/18/07 - INTERVIEW!!!! - APPROVED!!!!

09/28/06 - NOA1

1/25/07 - approved ...NOA2 via snail mail - 1/29/07

03/16/07 - chose not to return packet 3 to Montreal

1) You need to hold a green card for 3 years, with periods of being out side the USA for no more than 6 months, and being resident in the USA for more than 18 months, in order to file for Citizenship.

8 Dec 230 pt one and two sent plus all documentation needed

25 Jan case complete forwarded to embassy

27 Feb appoint letter arrives for 7 April 2008 yippee.

I know that you need discharge papers if you were in the US military, and applying for citizenship through military service. But dont really know about being in the British forces.
