well got a question here. i applied back in 2008 for my wife and got approved all way to NVC but we did not follow up since we were not planning to move to usa so it was expired in dec 2012 would anyone know if being approved in the pass will make the process faster or not.

thanks in advance :)

I don't think it will, unfortunately, if you filed a fresh I-130 petition and payed the fee again. It's a new application as your old one has expired. Sorry!

Nordic Tim - what part of Scotland do you hail from? My dad is from Perth, I try and get up there as often as I can to watch the football.

My lovely wife is from Perth! I've been there as well to visit and meet other members of her family that haven't been to America. I know that they just won the football championship last weekend!!! Sounds like it was quite exciting.

I am the USC Petitioner. My wonderful wife Laura is from Scotland.

As someone who has personally been approved all the way up to NVC as well and started the process all over again, I can tell you that it does not make a difference at all. What I would do if I were you, is provide a copy of your NOA2 in your I-130 petition to show you're applying for the same person again and to show you you've already been approved without problems once before (and also write a supplemental letter explaining why you're re-applying). I did that for mine. :)

No problem! Oh, I misread. I thought you hadn't sent it yet. I think you should be fine. I assume you wrote her name on that line as well stating that you previously filed for her. All should be well. It's not worth your time and effort to send in your old NOA2 because they would probably lose it.

Welcome! Times have been pretty quick for NOA1, so I wouldn't be surprised if you got it by Thursday or Friday, honestly (even accounting for Memorial Day).

Met in 2010 on a forum for a mutual interest. Became friends.
2011: Realized we needed to evaluate our status as friends when we realized we were talking about raising children together.

2011/2012: Decided we were a couple sometime in, but no possibility of being together due to being same sex couple.

June 26, 2013: DOMA overturned. American married couples ALL have the same federal rights at last! We can be a family!

June-September, 2013: Discussion about being together begins.

November 13, 2013: Meet in person to see if this could work. It's perfect. We plan to elope to Boston, MA.

March 13, 2014 Married!

May 9, 2014: Petition mailed to USCIS

May 12, 2014: NOA1.
October 27, 2014: NOA2. (5 months, 2 weeks, 1 day after NOA1)
October 31, 2014: USCIS ships file to NVC (five days after NOA2) Happy Halloween for us!

November 18, 2014: NVC receives our case (22 days after NOA2)

December 17, 2014: NVC generates case number (50 days after NOA2)

December 19, 2014: Receive AOS bill, DS-261. Submit DS-261 (52 days after NOA2)

December 20, 2014: Pay AOS Fee

January 7, 2015: Receive, pay IV Fee

January 10, 2015: Complete DS-260

January 11, 2015: Send AOS package and Civil Documents
March 23, 2015: Case Complete at NVC. (70 days from when they received docs to CC)

May 6, 2015: Interview at Montréal APPROVED!

May 11, 2015: Visa in hand! One year less one day from NOA1.

That's such a refreshing positive attitude! I'm sure I should remember to "keep it cool" sometimes. If anything I'm really lucky - my wife is landing in 13 days for a month together!

Hi brandon86, welcome to the group! To echo NotATailor times have been pretty quick recently so I wouldn't be surprised if you receive it before the end of May.

Sorry I've been away a few days guys! We've been planning stuff out for our second wedding ceremony this November. Hope you're all doing well!

Ooooh, sounds like fun! I'm preparing to move--one of my flatmates moved out and the lease was in her name, so the rest of us are moving to a new place on Saturday. I really hate moving. I've already been homeless once and moved once in the past six months. I can't wait to get moved with my wife so I can stop. Freaking. Moving.

Sounds stressful! In fact I'm pretty sure moving home is on the Holmes and Rahe scale from what I can remember... have it all to do myself at the end of September when I get to move to the Welsh coast until this process is over. That'll be my sixth time in seven years or so... so I'm right there with you. Which makes me wonder; what are you going to do with all of your stuff when you're finally approved? I'm thinking of just selling everything bar my guitars, clothes and a handful of books!
