How does Visajourney know what K-1 Visas (NOA2) are being processed?

Hello!

Because us, VJ members, fill out our timelines in the website so they use this information to estimate processing times. However we must consider that sometimes the information is not 100% accurate and also that VJ members only represent a small percentage of the applications being processed by each service center.

VJ does not call the service centers.

The official times are published in their website https://egov.uscis.gov/cris/processTimesDisplayInit.do;jsessionid=abcI-Nw_W-3Rb9yMT10wu

So for 129F applications we should expect 5 months, and if we get approved earlier than that we can jump with joy :content:

I suggest you follow this thread http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/493659-february-2014-tsc-filers/ So you can see when people from February start getting approved. Best luck!

Is the 5-months from NOA1 to the Interview?

No. The 5 months is from NOA1 to NOA2 approved. The website says all center are 5months to be approved for the NOA2 but I got my NOA2 approved in 4 1/2 weeks so you really never know and it was at the texas service center. So everything is just a guide but theres no guarantee but have your mind set on 5 months and if your NOA2 gets approved earlier then that's a great feeling and its a fast pace from there. Good Luck

VJ depends on us to tell them and they just average out the numbers.

So if you have not filled out your timeline yet, please help all of us by doing so.

Remember this is only average. Yours can be average, very fast, very slow or anything in between.

If you have a specific problem you think might cause you trouble, please post about it. If another VJ member had experience with that problem, maybe he or she can help you understand it and how to minmize its impact.

I would say go with the 5 months average to NOA2, remember that still needs to go to NVC and then the consulate, and then you depend on when they have available appointments for your interview.

Tons of cases from the Philippines got approved in a matter of few weeks, nothing against you guys, but the rest of us SHOULD NOT get our hopes up based on that. Applicants from other countries have NOA1 of november and december and still waiting.

Which to me seems a bit counterproductive on the USCIS' part since there are "currently no available appointments" at the embassy in Manilla. <_<

How true! Increased manpower hours and reduced processing times are only at the uscis-to-nvc stages for Philippines applicants. But down the line, the processing time at the embassy is the same. The PH applicants only meet a bottleneck, which I doubt would change in the next few months with the current system at Manila embassy. Those who got their NOA2 recently would have to wait for the next 2 months for an interview anyways, unless they're able to grab an appointment that was recently cancelled. In the end, it's not much different.

Is the 5-months from NOA1 to the Interview?

As mentioned, by others, the 5 month wait from NOA1 to NOA 2 is simply an average. Yours could be faster or slower. But I saw from your timeline, you're halfway there for the 5 months wait. The positive points are your case is not transferred and/or no RFE was sent (unlike yours truly!). Take this opportunity to read on the embassy requirements for your fiance's medical and interview. All the best! :)

Sorry if you've already been asked this but are you sure your petition wasn't transferred to CSC? Your approval time doesn't sound like TSC at all. I've heard of no one else receiving an approval that fast this year.

Edit: Whoops. Just saw that it's Philippines. That explains it.

I guess people here are saying that Philippines are being expedited cause of the typhoon but what I read was they are expediting immigrants. But my petition was never transferred to CSC which I know they have a fast approval time. Maybe cause of the typhoon they are doing all petitions. Believe me I don't think its fair cause I am a fair guy and of course it isn't my fault cause really I had my mind set on 5 months like the timeline says and also I called the embassy and they said the same thing. I hope yours get approved soon. Good Luck

Thanks. But I'm prepared to wait 5-6 months just for NOA2. That's why I'm visiting her in July (>4 months after NOA1). That should right in the middle of time in between seeing each other. Basically break the 8 months without seeing each other into 2 4 month spans.

Very true. I would always prefer my 8 months waiting time (even with transfer and RFE) than being one of those expedited because they suffered and almost died from the typhoon. It was an unimaginable catastrophe, any town or country wants to be in.
