Essysita, I have seen two forms of name:

SURNAME, OtherName1 Othername2 and Othername1 Othername2 SURNAME

For dates I always use: DD Month YYYY unless it specifies the format

Today would be 23 May 2014

4 months from now would be 23 September 2014

This makes it abundantly clear to anyone reading the date what it is.

Now...if the form specifies mm/dd/yyyy, then do that. But if there is no specification, I recommend DD Month YYYY

Sukie

Doesn't matter what format you use. The whole point of putting that information on the back of the photos is in case the photos get misplaced. If they do, having that information on the back will help the process of getting it back to your case file. Don't forget to put the case number ;)

Thank you so much for your replies! Hopefully, I can send off my IV supporting documents today. :)

I was just reviewing some information on this page here

http://travel.state.gov/content/visas/english/immigrate/immigrant-process/documents/support/i-864-frequently-asked-questions.html

I noticed that it says all AoS forms should be filled out in CAPITAL letters. Does anyone know how important this is? Has anyone filled it out without having it in all caps and still got approved?

Internet is very slow where I am in Thailand so unable to read posts. No word from the

Bangkok Embassy about change in interview date. The tears have finally stopped falling

as I am now with my family after over a year apart. I was walking down the street

and holding my wife's hand very tight and I realized something was very different.

In the past I knew that soon enough I would have to let go and return home and all

the pain that would be involved. Just then it dawned on my heart that

I never have to let go of her hand again.

So glad to hear from you my friend, and great that you are with your family! I so wanna be like that with my wife in a couple of months.

Hi gang! Thought I would re-post this (can't remember who posted the link first) but it's awesome and will take away a lot of the worry about the DS 260. Now we can be prepared!

http://travel.state.gov/content/dam/visas/DS-260%20Exemplar.pdf

I like the fact it actually explains who will fill out that education/work section that some of us didn't have.

OMG, you're right Lakehouse! So it's not just one factor (e.g. country, age) but a combination of different scenarios in the applicant's profile. Mystery solved!

Thanks for reposting nightingalejules! I missed it the first time.

Yes, but I do think it's a little odd that they only care about the education of men! Oh, well, since when did any of this make logical sense?

Does anyone know, when filling out the DS-260 online, how far back in time the beneficiary will need to know where they lived? For example, my spouse will be filling the DS-260 out and he is not exactly sure of the addresses he lived at almost 20 years ago. I saw in the example DS-260 that Saylin provided, that it asked about prior addresses since the age of 16 but I wasn't sure if it still asks that on the most recent, up to date DS-260. Thank you for any help you can give. :)

Saylin I have a qs. Have u seen anyone on VJ getting denied at the interview because of educational differences? One of my friend has interview next month and she is a lawyer. But her husband does not have any degree. Although he is employed and making good money. They had an arranged marriage and plans to work in states as well. She was quite worried and was asking me what I thnk about it. I consoled her but I was thinking what might happen. Have u seen cases like that?

It looks like they're still asking for addresses from age 16. Which is crazy, I know. Fortunately, I was able to get a personal credit report that listed almost all of my old addresses (I'm 43 this year, so I was looking for addresses from almost 30 years ago) - and it gave me a reference as to the dates as well. I'm fudging the dates as little as possible, but I moved around a LOT so it was about 16 distinct addresses, not including when I worked for theatre companies and was living in hotels and "cast houses" and with billets while on tour (generally, at the times that I remembered having given up my apartment to go on tour, I put down my parents' address, since that's where my mail would have gone at that time).

To be honest, now that I've done all the detective work, I'll be pretty grouchy if they don't ask for all the addresses since 16!

Why do people combine their financial aid for college as part of there income?? What sense does that make?? Your basically getting money from the government and then putting that on you affidavit of support to show you are eligible to sponsor someone. (I was reading a vj thread from 2006 about this topic)

They still do and you need to get resourceful to stich a complete picture together. You could use credit reports as nightingalejules suggested or addresses listed in old school/college transcripts; some old application copies or rental/house bills/deeds ...etc. I even used Google Maps to find two old addresses, one in Colorado and another in Kuwait.

I think these addresses are needed to cross check with PCC requirements. Better be precise for US addresses. In Kuwait, for example, the exact address is not critical as the PCC is issued from a central agency, which anchors it to a unique ID number that is patched to the minutest of your life movements since birth or first entry to the country, like the plague.

Last week, Kuwait authorities refused point blank to issue me a PCC citing that they only issue it to citizens if convicted of a crime and after they serve their sentence!!!!! And they denied me the courtesy of putting that refusal in writing. Meanwhile, they have no objection to issuing it to resident aliens regardless!

I mean... what do I need to do? Slap a cop?

Well, I'm glad I managed to get my PCC without having to slap a cop. It turned out that I could get it at a nearby sister agency dedicated to provide such documents for foreign travel purposes.

For anyone requiring a PCC from Kuwait, the instructions from the US Embassy are outdated. The appropriate place is in Farwaniyah (Dhajeej Area), Department of Criminal Evidence (إدارة الأدلة الجنائية), a side door to the right. They would require your original passport and a photocopy and a passport size photo. They would take your fingerprints and photo and issue you the certificate for free in your choice of language, English or Arabic, the following day. At least this is how it is for Kuwait citizens.

I was just reviewing some information on this page here

http://travel.state.gov/content/visas/english/immigrate/immigrant-process/documents/support/i-864-frequently-asked-questions.html

I noticed that it says all AoS forms should be filled out in CAPITAL letters. Does anyone know how important this is? Has anyone filled it out without having it in all caps and still got approved?

I did not use caps and it got approved. I also haven't read of anyone else having a problem with it.

I would like to add that the officer in charge there was a real gentleman and very proficient in his duties.

Wow, I did that too. Who else got a checklist for that? Did anyone else put the rounded amount in?? :o

The number has to match the number on the transcript. You are filling out a contract. That is why they are so nit-picky

I did not use caps and it got approved. I also haven't read of anyone else having a problem with it.
