Ok resubmited and not it shows "completed". I am pretty sure instructions email we received last night reversed our already completed DS261. Although, what surprised me the most was that when i clicked on "incomplete" all of the prior submitted info was already there. So all I have to do was to click next couple of time and then submit! Hope I didn't mess it up by resubmitting it...ugh..

Did you get an interview date?! :)

I really wouldn't worry as it won't cause any significant delays in your case. That's only 2 days. If it was 2 weeks I would worry.

Smart girl! I've been to the abyss of high-interest debt and back. There really is nothing like living debt free, especially when you eventually see how fast those would-be interest payments-turned-savings grow in your retirement accounts. Keep at it with those student loans, and once you're done with them, don't stop there.

Thanks! I graduated from a 2 year college last May. So, I had 4 loans (2 each year). Already have one completely paid off. Now working on the other 3. I'm hoping to get them all paid off by the end of next year. Might be slightly harder now that I have a new car and thus car payments (my last car was a hand-me-down and was used, so no payments), but I think I can still manage. I'm pretty good with my money ;)

Do you keep a financial spreadsheet as meticulously as the NVC one? ^_^ I've been tracking my finances on the same sheet since 2008... my husband may try to have me diagnosed with OCD when he sees it

I'm glad you got the appropriate customer service after all! What is the email the supervisor gave you to file a formal written complaint?

If I gave that information out, it might go viral on VJ. :)

It was the same NVCInquiry@state.gov, but with a subject line ATTN addressed to a supervisor.

Actually, that's one kind of spreadsheet I don't have!

I do have a student loans spreadsheet though where I track the loan, the amount, the date, how much I paid, the daily interest amount, and such. It's nice to see the amounts go down :)

As for my bills though, I just keep everything in my head *gasp* Although, I don't have that many as my husband pays most. I pay off my credit cards once the statement is posted, I pay a portion of rent at the end of the month, my student loans every Monday, then just my portion of the phone bill and car insurance (plus a car payment now too I guess) around the 17th every month. Not too hard to remember :)

It just might! Thank you :)

It's good to know we can formally express dissatisfaction with NVC's customer service. Hopefully they'll start paying attention.

Sorry for asking again, but can someone help me with this, the previous answer to this wasn't quite what I was looking for.

Can the petitioner apply for Financial aid for college? The thing is I have 0 income, my dad is the co-sponsor and his income is a little above the poverty line. And he thinks that either I won't get financial aid or there going to deny my husbands visa. I'm a us citizen. On one of the grants they ask me if dependant and then ask for my parents info. And on another grant they just ask for my husband's income, and they will give a heavy grant because my husband's income is way below the poverty line for both of us.(since his income is in Indian rupees) and I'm waiting for a case complete and it could be risky?

That is what I am thinking too! Thanks for the feedback :)

Not yet but I hope they start scheduling for July next week!

I will try with the consulate in Casablance to see if they can move it to June once they get the file.

Good luck

Great good luck to you too! Hope you get a June interview :)

OK, this is what I did..

I am the petitioner but I am not a dependent of anyone . I actually have dependent children. Seeing your post reminded me to fill out my FAFSA which I was ignoring for the last few months. I just filed about an hour ago. For myself and my almost 18 year old son.

For you, the FAFSA is based on your parents income. I doubt it will matter at all. I qualify for about $3300 in Pell Grants. It has nothing to do with supporting my husband when he gets here.

the only question I had when filling mine out this morning is that I had to say I am married, then I had to say I filed head of household. A pop-up window came up asking me if that was correct, and if not, go correct it. It asked for my husbands income so I just put '"0" and it says if your spouse doesn't have a SS# to just put 999-99-9999. So that is what I did. I am sure they will question me.. but whatever... we'll see what happens. You will have to answer the questions about being married. That may have an effect on the amount to receive

You should be fine though. Go ahead and get your student aid. You are allowed to go to college.

Well its Memorial Day weekend, it was the Easter Holiday that delayed me being able to pay my fees, now its another holiday that postpones progress. I like most people in this forum are just tired of waiting. It is stressful.

TODAY I choose to be grateful, thankful for what I have. This will help me get through these final days, weeks or even months (hope not)--

I am grateful for being where I am, I am grateful for having the people in my life that I have. I am grateful to be so much closer to closure than I was when I was forced to make the difficult decision to return to the USA - at that time I had no basis for completing an AOS, I didn't have anyone that I would even consider asking to be my co- sponsor, I had to come out of my semi-retirement and get a real job again. The Mortgage meltdown, melted down my financial independence. I had to change gears, LITTLE did I know about immigration laws, NEVER did I think it would be years, I thought it would be months at most.

again, I am in such a better place now, this is all behind me I know we are not YEARS away from being a family again, so I am grateful.

I suggest in these difficult times when we are in a holiday weekend and everything comes to a screeching halt, instead of being angry and upset (that's easy to do)- count your blessings, we are all one day closer to being past this difficult time.

thanks for letting me rant --

There's a section about tax information in Saylin's NVC Process Wiki that states "Up until April 14th (tax deadline), you can still use 2012 as the most recent year." We sent our AOS package a week after this date so should have been using 2013 as the most recent year not 2012.

I've now spoken to NVC about my checklist and they told me the part asking for the civil documents could be false as they are showing my IV package as still being under review. It just seems confusing, as in Saylin's Wiki it states if they ask for the entire package its a false checklist but if they ask for something specific like the Police Certificate its real. Well they did ask for the Police Certificate, and my Birth Certificate, and copy of my passport. But not the photographs or Marriage Certificate. So does this count as most of the package or specific items?

I don't think that statement is entirely accurate, but when I know instead of thinking I will follow up.

for example, some people file an extension- and taxes are paid but not filed until a later date, so 2013 would be current income (with documentation of course)

again, I am a student in this process but will follow up.

But have they been paying in to as for 30 yrs? If they've been paying then they SHOULD recieve the benefits! But this is the government we are talking about!! :(

They pay the benefits as long as they live in the USA or are Naturalized US Citizens who can live out side the USA and collect their benefits. If a non US Citizen leave the USA for their country of birth or any other to live for more than a year they lose their residence and have to apply to return to the USA. But if they are going to live here in the USA yes they get their benefits. :D See I know somefink. ;)

If your married you can't be dependant on your parent's taxes right? I don't work have 0 income my husband is in India and doesn't do taxes. So I have to be dependant on my parents taxes return right? And for financial aid NY state tap grant I have to say I'm dependant on my parents. For fafsa they ask me if I'm married and refer me as independent and ask for my husband's income.

Sorry for the repetitive questions, but if anyone has experience with this or know know the answer please help. I'm going to call the financial aid office but it closed till Tuesday.

Wow! Since 2008?! That is awesome! I've been slowly but surely trying to climb out of the debt I got myself into. The student loan is the biggest thorn in my side :/

I love the idea of a spreadsheet, and once hubby is here I may tackle that again (I just have a tablet as my laptop had a massive seizure a few months ago)!
