I'm so sorry to hear this! I have no idea about the criteria for expedites other than some basic recall on what I've seen posted here, but it's truly a shame that not only you, but all of us, have to wait such a long time to be with our families/ loved ones.

I'm starting to get worried... As in it will never happen worried. I'm also starting to think that the 30 business days blab is true (and only for me) and if it is, I'm screwed.

i am so pissed off right now. my marriage certificate wasn't approved. i sent the original registration #######

You need to go to the US Embassy website for India click on Visa then go down to marriage in India click on that and close to the bottom it will give you information about what to do about your marriage certificate. I'm not sure if this is country or Embassy specific but I'll copy and paste what it says on the Egypt US Embassy website to give you an idea. Good luck to you.

To use the marriage certificate in the U.S., it should be translated into English at the Notary Public Authority-located on 57 Ramses Street, Cairo. The fee is 15.00LE for each page. It takes 1-2 days to receive the translation, which must then be authenticated by the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs (11.00 LE) and authenticated by the American Citizen Services Unit at the U.S. Embassy in Cairo ($50.00).

Please note: If you do obtain an English marriage certificate from the Egyptian Ministry of Justice Translation office, you DO NOT need to have it authenticated at the American Embassy to use for immigration in the United States.

Case Approved At Last!!!

Hello everyone! I tried to update my timeline with no success, so I hope that it shows in the personal section beneath this comment. Next month is just shy of a year that we applied for our IR-1 and now we're just awaiting an interview date. Any UK people who have/had the interview in London, I would like to know the timeframe you waited from completed case to interview date.

This forum has been a great tool for us and thanks to everyone on here for your feedback. I will be sure to indicate an interview date when it gets assigned. Best of luck and a speedy process for those waiting at the NVC!

If the marriage took place in India, I think you have to send something else with it as well.. I forgot what it's called, but I remember somebody getting a checklist for the marriage certificate because they forgot to include the other document as well..

One more question, My wife (the petitioner) has never been in a paying occupation, and currently she is a Homemaker. So for I-864 part 6 which box should she tick? Should she write she is employed as a homemaker? or should she write she is Unemployed since... well hmm her birth? If i write unemployed what should i write in the 'since' part?

I'm not really sure if you should write homemaker or unemployed, but for the "since" part, you could just write the date your wife finished any schooling/education, since prior to that date she was a student, not unemployed/homemaker

Got a checlist again...omg why before they told its either w2 or tax transcript...my husband send his written explanation why he doesn't have w2 and he send his 2013 tax transcript and according to abby we need to submit his w2 form.. i so tired of waiting for this process..

Good morning VJ family,

I read some posts this morning talking about "why can't NVC correct "small" mistakes" in the forms they get" or why can't they just write the correct income if the petitioner makes a mistake or why can't they check a box we left blank, and so on.

One very obvious reality we sometimes fail to take into prospective: NVC processes millions of packets. Most of us think that they should focus on our packets, but THEY CAN'T. If they start correcting things it will take double or may be triple the time it takes right now to turn around and review packets.

I'm not defensing the NVC as they make some stupid mistakes: they lose docs, they don't even follow the instructions on their forms.... but don't expect them to correct our mistakes.

I just wanted to throw that out there, food for though
