The representative from NVC told me as long as you have the case number anywhere in the packet (in my case it is present on my ds 260 confirmation page), they will be able to match up my file. He said it might delay it by a few days, but there is no reason to worry about.

Also he was kind enough to tell me call back next week to make sure that my packet has reached the appropriate department and I will do that after the memorial day weekend.

I am waiting for my long birth certificate, thanks to VJ I realized I had the short version and I don't want a checklist. Hopefully I will get it this week and my lawyer will send also IV package and the DS-260. I know how hard is when you have to count on others, I am waiting from my brother to send me the birth certificate. I do understand you and I know how frustrating is. You sure can send it to him, or he can login to CEAC and print it out himself. As for the IV fee, it depends on when you completed your DS-261. You can study the spreadsheet to see current wait times.

Good luck!

hi i am confused what is the long vs short birth certificate? could you please explain? thank you

Birth Certificates

You (and any family members immigrating with you to the United States) must obtain an original birth certificate issued by the official custodian of birth records in your country of birth, showing your date of birth, place of birth, and parentage.

Important Notice: All Immigrant Visa applicants must submit a long form original birth certificate. Short form birth certificates will not be accepted.

The certificate must contain the:

  • Your date of birth
  • Your place of birth
  • Names of both parents
  • Indication by the appropriate authority that it is an extract from the official records

Unobtainable birth certificates

If your birth record is not obtainable for any reason, a certified statement must be obtained from the appropriate government authority explaining why your birth record is unavailable. You must also submit secondary evidence such as:

  • A baptismal certificate that contains the date and place of birth, as well as both parents names (providing the baptism took place shortly after birth)
  • An adoption decree for an adopted child
  • An affidavit from a close relative, preferably your mother, stating the date and place of birth, both parents names, and your mother’s maiden name.

Note: An affidavit executed before an official authorized to take oaths or affirmations must also be provided. More specific information is available from the NVC.

can u tell me whats bar code cover sheet pls ?

After you pay the fees in the CEAC website, you can download each sheet... You will have to include them afterwards in your packages

(AOS fee sheet with AOS package, IV fee sheet with IV package)

The AOS sheet looks like this (see below).. the IV one is similar, it has a different address and the text is slightly different.

Read this link it explains everything, the process, the documents you need, etc

if you read the wiki (Saylin's post 1), you will at least have an idea about this.

If not then GO READ IT!

If you read it and you can't understand it, then hire a lawyer to help you through this because you really can't do it on your own!

Good luck

You already completed the DS-261, I think you meant the DS-260 to be available soon. Once you pay the IV fee, you can send the IV packet from your home country.
