NVC Filers - May 2014

My search so far has me here. Its near the airport, has a pool for my son and is in the 100 to 150 a night range.

Still looking will lock in tomorrow night on something. Thanks for any ideas.

I asked my husband. He didn't have anything on top of his head, but did a quick search and came up with the following:

"Several in that price range very near the airport but not a lot for kids to do... Near LAX:

- Holiday Inn Express LAX

- Ramada Inn Marina del Rey, closer to the beach, 10 mins from LAX

- Four Points Sheraton LA Westside right next to Fox Hills Mall, also about 10 mins from LAX"

I need information if someone face similar situation...

Do I need police certificate for live abroad 7 months for study? it was not consecutively stay, but I didn't have option to explain that on DS 260 form because it's from... to... I lived before on my current address, and I returned and still live on same address. From NVC web-site you need it if lived in a different country for more than 12 months? M I correct?

An applicant must obtain a police certificate from the local police authority:

IF you…

AND…

- have been living in your country of nationality at their current residence for more than 6 months

you are 16 years old or older

- lived in a different part of your country of nationality for more than 6 months

you were 16 years or older at that time

- lived in a different country for more than 12 months

you were 16 years or older at that time

We have a similar situation. I read that as you don't need a certificate from a country you're not a citizen of unless you lived there for 12 months or more.

Thank you, I understand it like that. Because i didn't even been there continuous 7 months, but there was no option to explain that on DS260 so i put from... to... it was 10 years ago during my master studies. I live on my current address since i was 14, i went for study and returned.

Can anyone in the UK answer me this? According to the London Embassy website, the interview will not be scheduled until the medical has been completed and they are in receipt of this. Does this mean that the medical can be scheduled before NVC case completes, or do we have to wait for case complete before we can schedule the medical? If the latter it seems this would add additional and unnecessary time onto the process. My case was only received at the NVC a few days ago, but was hoping to schedule my medical now if possible.

The interview scheduling isn't dependent on the medical for spousal visa filers. Your interview will be scheduled in the next round of scheduling after your case complete whether the medical has been done or not.

London advises that you wait until your case has arrived at the embassy before having your medical, because Knightsbridge will send your results directly to the embassy and it's best your file is already there to match the medical documents up with. That's not a hard and fast rule, I've seen a number of other UK filers have medicals prior to interview being scheduled, but we personally waited until receiving our interview notice before booking the medical.

I would advise against scheduling your medical this soon in the process, because it has a limited validity to it. You want the results to still be valid at your interview, and if you're delayed by checklists etc., they may not be. The amount of time you have to go through POE is also based on when your medical results were obtained, so if you can't travel immediately after receiving your passport back, that's all the more reason to wait to schedule the medical

That's really useful information. That's really useful information. I'm naturally keen and eager to push anything forward which I have control over but if it could cause issues down the line then I'll leave it for a bit then, maybe until case complete at least. Since you submitted DS-261 recently, NVC will take about a week to process it and approve it. Only after that they will generate the IV-invoice. Then a few days later you will be able to complete DS-260. So in about 2 weeks from now you will be able to complete everything and submit everything. Give NVC another 2 weeks for CC. So you are looking at middle of June for CC.

Why not submit your dates in the form provided by Ms. Saylin (link in the first post)? That helps everyone. Your consulate information (on your Timeline) is incorrect.

I would recommend Medicals at least 2 weeks before the interview date. One day before is taking a lot of risk.

Haha, no kidding! The medical is the only step of the process where they really want to book you ASAP, and that's only because they want your money
