Are you serious? How could anyone file taxes for the year we're still in? Calm down and think it through. Most recent tax year is 2013.

So just to clarify, you are the US citizen and your husband is the beneficiary? (Since you said you sent your passport during the I-130 petition but only the petitioners would be required right?

So my question is, did your passport ONLY have your maiden name in it or was the biographical information page unchanged but it had the name correction page on the next page stating your married name? I ask because my wife who is Japanese and the beneficiary has a Japanese passport that was corrected to have my last name listed on the following page but her biographical information page still has her maiden name. Do you think this will cause any problems?

No, I'm the beneficiary. At the time I filed, people on here were getting RFEs for beneficiary's passport so I sent the scan along just in case. Plus in Canada, the marriage certificate only show maiden name, too.

It won't cause any problems, per se... In fact, if the bio page of her passport still has her maiden name you might want to have the visa match that. But for me, I wanted to make sure everything matched, and all my id is now in my married name.

So if you want to correct it, wait until you get your AOS cover sheet. It will have the beneficiary's name on it. If that name is wrong, send in the new name with some supporting id in the new name.

We flew back from LA to Sydney last night and have just arrived home! Before we left for the airport in LA we went to the Getty Centre which was amazing (in case any of you are in the LA area - go check it out!). Anyway, I thought I would check my emails by using their free wifi whilst me and my OH were walking around the galleries. So I did and I saw an email from NVC (my heart fell and I let out a groan of 'oh great another friggin' checklist blah blah blah). They were kicking up a stink about my UK police cert and my Australian police cert and generally being pedantic about everything so much so that I thought I would give myself a week off from logging into VJ and calling them because it was getting a bit too much for my mental health! etc). Anyway I opened the email and it's a letter saying that my interview has been scheduled for Sydney on June 3rd. I was like 'WHAT THE FRICK'!!! - but obv couldn't shout in the gallery so we ran outside and screamed into the Santa Monica Mountains! So there we go after almost a year (my PD is 7th June), I finally have an interview! I don't know what date my case complete is must be Mon, Tues or Wed of this week I guess. I am so relieved! And I'm hoping for a case complete for the rest of you all as well. The end is in sight!

I (luckily) already live with my husband but the last three years of my life have been consumed by visa #######. First my residency here (which after a full year of "awaiting signatures" I've given up on) and the for my husband. I think when we finally cross into the USA I might breakdown into hysterical sobbing/laughter. I don't remember what it's like to not be dealing with visas. That's what you get for loving a foreigner huh??!!

I wrote this to a friend on VJ and I stand by it. "Violent prisoners aren't punished for what they have done compared to our punishment for falling in love with a person from another country. There is something very wrong here but there is apparently nothing we can do to change this. We are no longer the masters but the servants in our government. Maybe if we where illegal aliens we could demonstrate and get some action. " It's true we are punished for

falling in love with someone outside the USA. But God willing we will prevail.

Just called NVC; hold time 45 minutes - heard the good news and she told me that the next step is the schedule of interview.

Me toooo!!! Well my documents were all received on the 29th of April so we're pretty close. I don't however know what 'scanned' means. Does that mean input into their system? If so, that would take another 5 day to a week after being received, right?

Anyway I want a case complete by May, not too much to ask right?

I filed my taxes on April 14th, and was able to get my tax transcript today, May 15th. I filed MFS, and it was a paper filing - not an electronic one. According to the IRS site, I should not have expected my transcript until June 15th, but I guess I got lucky.

My AOS was submitted on April 9th, and was scanned in on April 15th, but passed with flying colors (no 2013 tax info requested). But I have the 2013 transcript up my sleeve if and when we ever get a case complete and an interview!!!

Lucky you! We're still waiting, but my husband respond on the second check list again with W7 and 1040a, but this time he also include my ITIN number, first time was not ready yet. Hopefully they'll have understanding and accept it. I sent my IV package over yesterday.

Thanks to both of you, I'll give them a call again tomorrow...let's see if they'll have my case # & IIN ready for me... Btw I did give the rep. our email address...she just sounded like she was in a rush, like literally making me zip my mouth before I ask any question

Call around five or 6 Eastern time, the people are much nicer on that shift you have until midnight so why not find some nice people to talk to. Good luck hope you get your case number and invoice number when you call and I would give them the e-mails again just in case. Welcome to the thread.

Spoke to NVC today (don't remember the girl's name) - thought I'd report in case it helps anyone. When we filed our petition, we used my married name, but my passport was still in my maiden name. When we received our AOS info, it has my maiden name.

Apparently, this is not something that will be fixed just through me sending in my IV documents using my new name. I actually had to send in a separate email with the scan of my new passport (to the NVCinquiry address) specifically asking that my name be updated to match my passport.

I thought there must be more of us who sent in the petition before they completed the name change process, so I hope this helps!
