Oh man that sucks. I'd check with your laywer today to make sure he DID NOT accidently optin for EP. Lawyers screw up quiet often, If he didn't I would call NVC back and ask to speak to a supervisor. You should be very close to a case complete if everything was sent in on the 11 of April, Sorry to see youre going through this.

I checked with the lawyer and they never opted for EP and never sent the ENROLL email. :( They're contacting the NVC at this point. I'm feeling very discouraged. I did do the online DS-260. Does this automatically enroll someone in EP? Would you know?

USCIS and NVC stress- I have a breakdown about once a week. I got all hopeful with my AOS approval the other day, but now I'm realizing it'll still probably be at least another two weeks until

IV approval.

:clock::clock:

My birthday is on the 13th (Tuesday). Wouldn't CC be a lovely gift??

All I know is that when I get case complete I'm going DRINKING!! :dancing::dancing:

Wow, we're birthday mates, mine too is on the 13th, thought I was going to celebrate it with my husband but it didn't work out, this checklist just kept us back, our case has been at nvc since first week of february

The worst step in the NVC process is the intial wait to get a case # assigned.

After that, things seem to be resonable to some point!

I agree etrangais, unless you get a ridiculous and impossible checklist that anyone with half an eye could have figured out. THEN it seems like takes forever.

Hi! I created a word doc when filling out my DS260 (it's based on Jan and March screenshots). Follow the link on my signature. If there's any trouble accessing it, let me know.

Thanks for posting that, it'll definatley help me prepare. Should I enter my wife's (sponsors) who is here in Canada with me, USA address where we'll be living? or her currrent address here in Canada?

LoveMyTico, our fees were both available at the same time and we paid them at the same time. I wonder how often that happens and if its something they control or not.

The same thing happened to us. I paid them both, at the same time.

If I resubmit it will affect something? i just want to correct it

I've heard that you can call in and ask them to "unlock" it so you can correct something. Worth a shot!

yes :))) i want to ask another thing, i used to study abroad, and i have foreigner permit for that period should i send it with my civil documents? also the visa, on the old passport i thougt it's smart idea to send them. what you guys think?

I'm thinking I'll send in copies of both passports, since I filled in the i130 with the old one... just for continuity.

Do you need a police clearance for the other country? If you were there more than 6mo, I think you're supposed to have one.

NVC received my case by 16 april and now it is already 9 may.Do I need to call them everyday to get my NVC number...

I'd start calling around Wednesday of next week - as others have said, it seems to be taking pretty much exactly a month after receipt.

Also, I'm pretty thrilled to report that I got to fill in a form today! Choice of agent form was available and I appointed myself and sent that sucker off! Whee! :D

Is your timeline updated?

My wife called NVC and I do not know if our best person JOY answer phone!!!!!!!!!!!.but who ever answer says they do not know contact USCIS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

May I ask, what was your question to her?

NVC received my case by 16 april and now it is already 9 may.Do I need to call them everyday to get my NVC number...

The sooner you get the number, the sooner you get started on the upcoming fees and documents, so it's up to you if you call everyday or not. You're close to having a number ready I bet!

When you get the case number, you can provide the beneficiary's email address as well, and the actual notice will then be emailed to both of you.

Remember it's all in Saylin's wiki:

http://www.visajourney.com/wiki/index.php/NVC_Process

:)

I'm on hold with NVC now.... praying I don't get JOY but if I do I plan to tell her that her name is very misleading :-D

:rofl::rofl::rofl:

When I'm stressed, I have zero appetite.

And I just saw that someone who paid their AOS after me now has their IV available before me (they're not using an attorney) does not help. :/ I think I need to go find a field to scream in. Excuse me....

I know, it's sooo hard! My appetite goes up and then down, right now it's up.. :pop:

Just when I think, ooh ooh ooohhh, I should get my CC next, because so and so's paperwork was received on the day before me or whatever, and it just doesn't follow the pattern that I anticipate, and I'm just crazy with missing my honey like everyone else who's waited so long.

[...]

My birthday is on the 13th (Tuesday). Wouldn't CC be a lovely gift??

Happy early Birthday! I so hope you get a CC that day (or SOONER! :D )

anothhhhhhherrrrr Question.. Sorry guys..

my joint sponsor files his income tax as married.. Does this mean his wife needs to fill out a I-864 as well???

If her income is needed, yes (she will have to fill the I-864A). If the husband's income is enough, just add his w2 form and a letter of explanation. Edited by MsGoyave

He is a US citizen, lived in the UK, now moved back to the US. I am French, we met in 2010 in the UK and got married in March 2013 in France.

So I have a really random question and this is hypothetical because I will most likely be too poor to go anywhere, especially not getting paid in the summer as a teacher. But if my hubby came in late June/beginning of July, would I be able to go with him on a trip to Bermuda in mid August? Not sure if he would have his green card by then and I am thinking I would like to surprise him with a cruise from NY to Bermuda for our anniversary. It probably won't happen. But I was just wondering.

It's been said here that you get a stamp in your passport I believe, and that serves as your temporary green card until it arrives. So yes, you can travel.

You share a birthday with me and bdrew's hubby! :)

Well Happy early Birthday to you and bdrew's husband as well!!

I checked with the lawyer and they never opted for EP and never sent the ENROLL email. :( They're contacting the NVC at this point. I'm feeling very discouraged. I did do the online DS-260. Does this automatically enroll someone in EP? Would you know?

That shouldn't do it, as EP enrollment happens earlier in the process, plus everyone fills out the online DS260...

Good luck again!

Wow, we're birthday mates, mine too is on the 13th, thought I was going to celebrate it with my husband but it didn't work out, this checklist just kept us back, our case has been at nvc since first week of february

The two bills are only invoiced at the same time if you have a lawyer/attorney attached to the case. They're automatically selected as agent, thus by-passing the DS-261. For everyone else, the reason the IV bill isn't invoiced at the same time as the AOS bill is because the IV bill is dependent on the DS-261 being submitted and accepted.

Thats really odd, because we don't have a lawyer or agent attached to the case. We used a service called rapidvisa to help fill the forms since I was worried that our situation wasn't standard, but they aren't a lawyer/agent and don't have any contact with the NVC. Maybe for me is was just a hiccup?? I don't know... Just glad that we're almost ready to send AOS and IV packet.

That's probably the reason. Looking at your signature, you didn't fill out a DS-261, so they must have sent some form with the I-130 electing themselves as agent, so once the file got to NVC, they were automatically selected as agent again.
