Question about starting K1 process and Medicare.

Hi, Going to start the K1 visa next month, have a few questions. First, I'm currently receiving medicare under the new rules with obamacare, but I am over the 100% poverty level, barely. I understand my partner cannot get benefits, but is it bad that I am? Should I cancel it and restart it up after the process is over? Do they even check? Third, from when you file, how long can you expect to have to wait until you get your next steps in the mail? From beginning to end, how long will we be looking at if everything goes smoothly? Im a US citizen, they are from Tunisia. Thirdly, is an 10 year age difference a horrible thing? We have been in a relationship for 3 years, visited, lots of skyping and facebooking, plus care packages? We are both legal age. So, will this be an issue? And btw, does anyone know how to get a copy of how many messages sent back and forth on skype as part of our proof? Thanks for all the help in advance?

I think you mean you are receiving Medicaid.

You need to meet 125% of the poverty levels.

Age difference will depend on whether you are the male or the female. Usually if the female is much older than the male, especially if she is beyond child-bearing years, it will make a difference.

Expect the process to take about 8 months from filing to the interview. With the person being Tunisian there will probably be Administrative Processing prior to the visa issuance so it will take longer, if approved.

Hi there! It depends what service center your petition is at, If it's at CSC = California or TSC = Texas service center, CSC is pretty quick at approving the petition while Texas is really lacking behind quite bad, Nobody can tell you how long it will take, But expect something from 5 Months + Just for the NOA2, Then you will have to wait to schedule a medical and then the interview, But It can take less than a year (Maybe a 10 Months) Or it can take over a year, I honestly don't know, Look at the K1 flow chart on VJ, It should give you a good estimate of how long etc. Age is no difference it's 10 years apart for me and my fiance, Age is not an issue. On Skyoe, I'm sure you can print the page off from Skype itself, Or you can try google, I'm sure your answer will be on there.

Best of luck to you on your journey :)

If you are concerned about your financial ability to support a K1 visa process and the challenge of AOS, perhaps it would be prudent to wait some time until your situation improves? That point aside, you may also consider a joint sponsor to support your position.

About age difference, i'd like to think this does not make any difference in and of itself however I would think if they suspect your relationship then age difference may be indicative of inauthenticity. Please know that is only my presumption, not a fact.

Do remember you need to have met in person during the last two years in order for the petition to be approved.

Good luck with the process and all the best to you both!

I surprised her with a proposal in Los Angeles, and this is how it went down!
