Hi. I just only sent our I-130 packet last Friday but I am trying to plan ahead for the NVC stage so I can get things moving as quickly as possible. I just read the guide but I have a few questions.

For the forms (Of-169, Of-230, I-864) the guide says that we will be sent these forms in the mail directly after NoA2. Do we need to actually wait for these physical forms or can we print them and fill them out now so that they are ready right away?

I read in another thread when I was looking for this information that the Of-169 is no longer used and now we need to send a DS-2001. Is this true? Same question in regards to Of-230 being DS-230.

About joint sponsors: Are they recommended even if you can prove you are above the poverty line without one? I could probably use my father as one but I don’t know if it is even necessary. However, depending on the route we take, at the time of NoA2, I might be unemployed if we decide to wait for her visa here in Japan after my current contract ends. I most likely will not have a job lined up yet in the US in this scenario. If we stay another year to wait, I will still have my current job. Does this change if I would need a joint sponsor or not? We have a lot of money in savings also.

For documents used at NVC stage: Just to clarify, the police certificate and long birth certificate are for that of my beneficiary spouse, right? It seems obvious but I just want to make sure because the guide doesn’t outright say whose.

For police certificate, would my wife need one from America as well if she has visited the US 3 times for less than 2 weeks each time over a span of 6 years?

October 3, 2011: Emailed checklist response (checklist generated due to typo on Form DS-230)

November 10, 2011: Interview - APPROVED!!!

September 23, 2013: Received NOA1 in mail (receipt date September 19th)

October 16, 2013: Biometrics Appointment

January 28, 2014: Production of new Green Card ordered

February 3, 2014: New Green Card received; done with USCIS until fall of 2023*

December 18, 2023:  Filed I-90 to renew Green Card

December 21, 2023:  Production of new Green Card ordered - will be seeing USCIS again every 10 years for renewal

Thanks, I actually found this guide shortly after posting this thread. However, I still would appreciate some advice about joint sponsors. The guide tells me HOW to do it but I was wondering if in my case it would be advisable to have one or not?
