Affidavit of Support Co Sponsers, change of address and change of employment

We will need a co-sponser. How hard is this? Does it get complicated? What's the procedure?

My husband (UK) has moved. I can't find anything to change his address. The only forms I can find are to change our address if you are already a LPR.

I will be changing jobs soon. Will this have an impact on our app and do I need to notify anyone?

Lets get the semantics out of the way first:

  • You will require a joint sponsor, not co-sponsor.
  • You do not have a joint "app," you filed a petition, your husband will submit an application.

Now to address your questions. A qualified joint sponsor must have income, assets, or a combination of both that meet or exceed the required threshold for their household size which will include the intending immigrant.

If you have not yet submitted the DS-260, then you don't need to worry about your husband's address change at this juncture, you (or he) will simply input his new address on the DS-260 when that time comes.

There was absolutely no need to correct me in such a condescending manner. This is a website to help others. Don't be an #######.

Actually, there was a need to properly inform you. It is critical to your ultimate success. It was done nicely.

I would have also directed you to download and carefully study both the I-864p, I-864 and the I-864 instructions, where the answers to your above questions and many more you wouldn't know to ask will be found. Once you've done that homework, we're here to answer remaining questions about things that may not be clear.

The joint sponsor must be a US Citizen or Legal Permanent Resident, currently residing in the USA, who would have a plausible reason to support your spouse if unable to support self and financially qualified per the I-864p.

You changing jobs impacts nothing, unless it impacts your qualification to sponsor your spouse.
