That is a very nice story :) i am sure you love each other very much, you need to in orddr to get through this journey! Gay mariage is not recognize in every state though right? You are gonna stay in California? Sorry if I dont know, in Canada it is recognize everywhere.

For us well... funny story :P we met online too, in 2008 on an online game haha. We liked each other a lot! But our brain thought it was stupid, ultra geek and plain impossible. In 2010 I moved in avery remote place where only dial up internet was available, I wouldnt be able to play nor use Skype anymore...so I would never see hik again... so we both admited our feelings. 1 year later he was in Canada, visiting. 3 months later we were married, and 9 months after that I was pregnant :) now... we want to live in usa. It is a hard decision, but we will make it through. :)

Yeah, it's only recognized in a few states but as long as you get married in a state where it's recognized, then it's fine for immigration regardless of where you intend to live in the US later. :) It's recognized in New York (where she lives and where we intend to live together), so we were lucky in that sense and were able to get married there. For the time being the plan is to stay in NY since I really love the city and her job is there, but I will need to see about my employment possibilities (I'm an engineer focused on oil&gas, but we sure as hell do not want to move to Texas, Arizona or Louisiana, so I will see what industry I can switch to. Maybe California would be nice in the future).

Awww, your story is super cute too! Our mutual interest that brought us together is comics-related so don't feel too bad about the geekness. ;) I'm sure you'll be just fine. Your son is very young too so that sounds like a great time to move him to the US.

We met like over 4 years ago through a really good friend of mine, while he was stationed here in Germany. He tried to extend but the US Air Force wouldn't let him, almost 2 years ago, we already lived together but yeah, we weren't really to get married back then so we wanted to try a LDR  since we've been through like 3 deployments so far. But on my last visit he proposed on Christmas :dancing: and we got married in January this year in Las Vegas :D . And then again here in Germany we had our wedding in June on our anniversary

And now I'm waiting :clock: to finally be with my husband again.

I m really glad that i joined vj, helped me a lot reading everything about everybody else's stories and the guids. Dont give up hope ;-)

I met my husband through a pastor friend... he knew his family for over 20 years and when they feel in love with me and knew I loved the cultural they started praying!! ha! he lived in south Africa for 2 years which was good that's where he learned all his English ..so we started talking and soon realized that if we was going to be together he would have to leave everything he worked for in south Africa move back to Ethiopia , get married and start the process. almost all south Africans are refugees and there illegal. so he had to go back to Ethiopia where he was legal to make this process go smoothly, my whole church family was heading back to Ethiopia for a second time so it was best to get married in march or we would have to wait another year. so he left everything! job, house, car, money on a promise that I would marry him... when I look back and sometimes I say sorry for having him leave it all he says hush I left everything for love and its worth it . so we got married in front of all his family and all my church family .... the embassy gonna have a kick when they see all these nationalities in our pictures lol..

rewind 6 months before i even knew his name: at a church conference I went to last year in a youth ladies meeting and the lady said everyone hold the person hand next to you.... and they said whoever hands you are holding on your left and right that's your contact person for the next year...make new friends...I was holding both his cousin hands :blush: . God knows the plans he has for us! so I was comforted a little knowing I was close friend with his cousin before any of this came into thought.

do my family understand!! hahahaha no!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! their American I don't think they have even ever talked to a person from another country nor know any other country beside America.....so they are so confused why I decided to marry someone from another country...... and get a kick out of this ......

when is the wedding? I don't know

when is he coming? I don't know

how long is this process? I don't know

when should we get our wedding attire? I don't know

:cry::cry: :cry: :cry:

my grandfather cant understand how im having my huge wedding but don't know when.....

good thing is my wedding dress showed up 3 weeks ago!! wooo hooo im ready!!! lol anyways there is my story...

We met via Facebook in 2010. Video chatted on Yahoo and MSN messengers and A LOT on the phone for 13 months when I finally made the trip to India in 2011 to meet him. Spent 3 weeks there and got engaged at that time. I've since made 7 trips to India to be with him and we finally got married this past January 30, 2014 and now going through this torturous process! I have been following this topic for the last couple of months and decided to register. It's nice to hear everyone chatting with upbeat comments and words of encouragement and in some cases, reading some have been approved.

I wanted to let everyone know what I was told on September 11, 2014 when I called in to USCIS for status. I was told to call on that day from a conversation with them several weeks ago due to September 10, 2014 being my 5 month mark from when my paperwork was received into the processing center in Texas. (April 10, 2014). The information relayed to me by the person on the phone on September 11th was that I should be hearing back with them in 2 weeks or less. He said they were currently working on cases that were submitted on March 27th thru April 15th.

This to me is good news as I am one that does not like the unknown (as I am sure as is the case with many or all of you)... and to just wait with no updates is very stressful. I am hopeful to get notice soon

I hope this is encouragement to all those waiting and maybe a little more comfort that things are moving along.

Hi and welcome! :) I think it's the first April case I hear that has been sent to Texas. I hope you hear something soon. I'm a little confused though by the list of documents mentioned at the bottom of your post... did you submit an I-864 with your I-130? You're not supposed to send that to USCIS.

I am not sure for all circumstances, but the paperwork I have listed in my earlier post was reviewed and filed under the direction of an attorney with regards to my case. They have helped with many cases in the last couple of years and with my particular case, they recommened filing the I-864 with my I-130. Below is a copy of the first portion of the I-864.... I was able to use the first choice (1a) as I am the petitioner filing for my relative. As such, I was informed I could file it with the I-130 as when a decision would be made and approved by the USCIS, they can then forward the material over to the Visa center for further processing.

I do not know if this is what can be done in every circumstance as I am not an attorney, nor do I understand all the governing laws on immigration or the changes going into 2014. As changes have been made in 2014, and as many more seem to be changing in the future... I had decided having an attorney to help me through the process would make things smoother.
