Queston about getting the process started

I'm aware of all the forms that have to be sent to the USCIS in order to get an IR-1 visa but my question is can you send in all of those forms at once? The USCIS website makes it sound like you would initially just send in the petition (Form I-130) along with some supporting documents (copy of passport, Form G-325A, copy of marriage certificate, etc.) and only after being approved could you send in the remaining documents (affidavit of support, Form DS-260, medical examination forms, etc.). To me that sounds a bit strange. Am I misinterpreting or can you really not send in all the forms at once? If anyone could help me out I'd appreciate it.

Thanks,

CitizenJ

EDIT: Also, there's a part on the Instructions for Form I-130 Form that confuses me:

Is that section stating that you need to send in ALL of those documents to prove you're a US citizen or just one of those documents? Stupid question I know but I find that section somewhat amiguous and would just like some clarification. Thanks again.

You don't send all the forms at once. Only the I-130 and G-325A along with accompanying documents.

You just need one of those items to prove citizenship.

Yes you send in the I-130, G-325a and supporting documentation for those (as described in the guides and on the I-130 instructions) for the petition

The other documentation comes after petition approval at the visa application stage.

ya, sorry,

it's 3 (or more) phase process:

1. submit the I-130 with stuff

2. when the I-130 is approved, file for the Visa Application at the National Visa Center (hint - enroll in the Optional NVC Electronic Processing for Guangzhou, it saves time after approval).

3. IV Unit interview and medical exam.

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !
Ya know, you can find the answer to your question with the advanced search tool, when using a PC? Ditch the handphone, come back later on a PC, and try again.
