Mr. (SS#)

ok, first off.. we all want to be with our spouses ( yesterday) but sending in documents that they haven't asked for yet is wasting EVERYONE'S time. You will not streamline anything. The NVC will request everything again and you will have to scramble to get all originals again. USCIS is notorious for misplacing things. They love to give nonsense RFE's for nothing. Submit what is required for each step. NEVER send originals with your USCIS package. Save those for the NVC. Follow a thread for the month you filed and track everyone's progress. That will help pass the time and maybe give you an idea of where you stand. Create a timeline and a signature . That helps everyone else too. Always have it in the back of your mind that the USCIS lies. Everything I read on here was pretty much dead on. Most everything USCIS told me was a bunch of #######.

There is no short cut unless you expedite your case .

I guess I will see if I can pull my request and file separate.

Yes....Your mantra should be........Get Him In then Amend.....

A quote from Saylins NVC guide

"Filing MFS will probably be the easiest for most people as it doesn't require any extra documents from the foreign spouse, nor does it require their signature.

On the tax return, where it asks for the spouse's SSN, you would put 'NRA' for Non-Resident Alien. Continue filling out the rest of the return as normal.

That is all you have to do. (And if desired, once the spouse has immigrated to the US and has obtained a SSN, the petitioner can then amend their

tax return to MFJ, to possibly get a bigger refund, but this isn't required.) "

I haven't been able to find this out through reading the guides... some people talk about getting an email from NVC and it sounds like this is their first contact with them. So how did NVC get an email address from them? Are they using the email from the G1145 (or whatever that one was from I130) or from the USCIS notifications?

If so, they already have an email for hubby and I don't need to worry so much.

But if not, how did they get it?

So my question is: can I send an email to NVC only quoting my USCIS number, to add our email addresses? How should I format said email? Or do I need to keep calling and then send the email with my NVC case number to get the email ball rolling.

I know the phone seems to be much quicker, but I want the backup of email as soon as possible. Some of our documents took 3+ weeks to arrive by USPS/Canada Post, and that's way too long.

Is your timeline updated?

If so, they already have an email for hubby and I don't need to worry so much.

But if not, how did they get it?

So my question is: can I send an email to NVC only quoting my USCIS number, to add our email addresses? How should I format said email? Or do I need to keep calling and then send the email with my NVC case number to get the email ball rolling.

I know the phone seems to be much quicker, but I want the backup of email as soon as possible. Some of our documents took 3+ weeks to arrive by USPS/Canada Post, and that's way too long.

After you get case # (also by calling to NVC) you need to give them e-mails petitioner's and beneficiary's

I think photos of the kitchen sink is the only thing missing from this Awesome list :)

I shed a few tears when I read the final line "With my heartfelt intention of being reunited with my wife"

Andrewleen29...you have done an amazing amount of work and preparation that will help down the road.

The reality of what you are about to face is best summed up by a quote from the blog of bdrew612

" I’m not quite sure what we paid $420 for USCIS to do. It seems like our petition collected dust for 6 months

and now it gets moved to another department where we get to repeat the process. Don’t get me wrong,

I’m happy we’ve moved on to this stage, but after the nightmare of USCIS, I’m incredibly burnt out.

I can see a dim light at the end of the tunnel – it’s there, but it’s still out of reach."

For those using attorneys:

I was assigned my case number on March 28, and found out the case number/IIN on March 31st when I happened to call NVC. I am using an attorney, so I was very pleased when my yellow triangles appeared as of April 2nd. I was mildly irritated when, on April 6th, the invoices had not yet been paid by the attorney - so I paid them to get the process on the way.

On April 7th (Monday), I sent copies of the receipts to my attorney's office. On Tuesday, one of the attorneys in the office wrote to me, telling me she was working on my case, but she couldn't do anything without the IIN. When and how does the NVC notify the attorney on record of the Case number and IIN? I thought the attorney got an email from NVC when the case number was assigned!?

Anyway, the money has been deducted from my account, and my signed I-864 is ready to be shipped tomorrow, and the attorney is preparing the DS-260 now - so we are on track (as long as the stupid web site stays up). But I am VERY confused that NVC has not contacted my attorney's office! And I have received NO emails, nor any instructions since giving NVC my email address. Is something screwy here, or am I clueless as to the process? (Highly likely!!!!)
