NVC Filers - April 2014

Hello everyone, I got my NVC case number today. I was getting ready to call and then I received two emails from NVC giving me the case number and telling me to pay $88 for the AOS (affidavit of support).

Just called NVC and I have finally have a case number!!! So excited!! I already filled out the form to be updated on the spreadsheet, but for those of you keeping track so that you know if you are close to getting a case number, NVC received my case on March 27th.

What a sense of relief... there might actually be a light at the end of the tunnel

heads up guys, looks like NVC cuts their phone lines at 8:45 PM PST. i was on hold since 8:20 and they just dropped the call at 8:45

So..I tired to login to the online portal to fill out my Ds-260 but it won't let me. I am guessing my case number was finally changed, calling NVC tomorrow to see what's up.

I am pretty new to this whole thing and I am horrible with adding stuff, links and spreadsheets so if I ask dumb questions please bear with me. I received my NOA2 3/26/14 and my case was transferred to the NVC. I called the NVC today to ask if they had received my case. I was told they cannot give me any information and that I have to wait 8 weeks before they can even enter my case. Can anyone please tell me what I need to do? Do I need to call them back again and ask for a different person or do I need to contact the NSC and get information from them? Thank you in advance!

If your case has already been sent to NVC, then NSC has no more information for you. Just keep calling until they tell you they have received it. They will tell you that it takes 8 weeks, it is just a number they shoot out. Usually it is before then, so call them!!

I am so tired of this waiting game... my husband has been gone for about 15 months and it is ridiculous that as a citizen we have to wait this long when other people that are not citizens and just applied a few months ago are getting approved so quick... no offense to anyone it just sucks for those of us that waited a year to even get an answer from anyone. I guess I will have to keep waiting and trying. Thank you for your help. I do have a lawyer so will he be the one getting all the info when I get a visa # and when I need to pay and send the packet?

I requested yesterday to change case # too ( NVC error, I live in Ukraine and they give me # for Russia) and I don't know what to do, to wait for the new # or go ahead and use the one that I have, fill out DS-261, pay AOS fee and send AOS package. Any advise?

I will appreciate any help.

Oh no! They gave you the wrong case number? That is frustrating!

Hmm, I had to request a case number change because my husband moved countries. NVC told me to submit everything because it would take a while for the case number to change. I had to submit proof and my husband moving and what not. Although since yours is a NVC error, it might be different? I am not sure. Call NVC and ask them if you should submit the documents and fees or not. My case number got changed midway before I sent the IV package and filled out DS-260, already paid the IV fee, hope it does not get much more complicated because of the sudden change.

I am guessing the case number is not important until it has to actually go to the consulate, as long as you submit everything it should be able to correspond to the new case number, but then again there is not guarantee that NVC won't mess things up again.

Hope things get better, it does suck that they gave you the wrong case number, see what you can do do get it resolved soon, this process is already so time consuming! I can't wait til it is over!

Dear friends, who is waiting for IV fee? need an advice..

March 19th DS 261 submitted, 19 March AOS fee available to pay, 2 April status is paid.

But IV fee is still locked....no yellow triangle....Is it normal ?

Yes and I mailed them too, but I'll call today again, and we still didn't receive the IV fee mail. I was told to wait 10 business days and that yellow triangle doesn't meter.

Our DS261 was still not accepted, the thing is that DS 261 is submitted on March 18, but on March 24 I accidentally resubmitted the form, but I forgot to mention that. Today is 12 business days from first submission and 9 business days from second submission.
