Hello everyone. I'm new on this thread. I just called NVC and was told it would take 6 weeks from the time they received my case from UCIS before they assign a case number. Is this real? How come I came across some forums that say they received their case numbers after three weeks? Also, the lady operator told me I do not have to call NVC because they will send the case number once it is available. What did you, guys, do? Thanks!

You'll find out from this thread and this website that what you hear from calling the NVC is not exactly accurate - they have a pre-determined statement they have to give callers.

I suggest you read the very first post in this thread and the links, especially the Wiki. Then post further questions which others here can help you with. Reading posters' timelines and signatures will also help you see how long things take. I didn't check yours, but be sure to have both, as it will help others see your details which means more accurate advice:)

Note: the two packages (AOS and IV) can either be mailed separately or together. Either one works. Again, as long as NVC receives it, that's all that matters. If you do decide to mail them together, I suggest putting each in a separate manila envelope (and clearly mark it and write "AOS" or "IV" on each one), then putting both manila envelopes inside the shipping envelope.

Just had a quick question. If we mailed all the originals to NVC do we need to bring originals to the interview? Does bringing originals only apply to people doing EP?

If you mailed originals plus photocopies, then you'll receive your originals back at the interview. If you didn't also send photocopies, then take some with you to exchange with the Interviewer. Those doing EP would certainly take along their originals.

Beneficiary - Applying for CR1/IR1 (but also played the K3 card prior to understanding it may be phased out.)

2013: July 20: I-130 sent (Chicago lockbox)

July 24: I-130 NOA1

July 24: I-129F sent (Dallas Lockbox)

Aug 2: I-129F NOA1

Aug 12: Alien Registration Number was changed, I-129F.

2014: Jan 28/29/30: - 3 transfer notices for I-130 and I-129F.

Feb 3 - Hard copy arrived -Notice of transfer to Texas stating Jan 29th.

Feb 10 - NOA2

Feb 27 - email stating I-130 being sent to NVC from TSC.

March 6 -NVC received our case.

April 7 - CASE NUMBER yay! IIN and BIN obtained and email given.

April 9 - DS261 available and filled in online.

April 9 - AOS not yet payable but visible.

April 10 - email regarding NVC case number and access to DS261 received/ email regarding AOS received and paid.

April 11 - AOS sent by snail mail.

April 14 - AOS arrived per mail tracking.

April 15 - IV bill received via email, IV bill paid/ in process, IV package sent.

April 18 - IV bill showing paid/ DS-260 available and done!

- AOS scanned into their system.

April 21 - IV package arrived per mail tracking.

April 24 - IV scanned into their system.

May 2 - False checklist for IV documents= AOS approval.

May 13 - NVC rep reported ? missing Police certificate via my phone call.

- Supervisor review initiated.

May 14 - Checklist for Police certificate came via email.

- Sent checklisted documentation priority post!

May 15 - Package delivered per mail tracking.

May 19 - Case COMPLETE!! Police certificate found by NVC:)

May 28 - Case complete email arrived.

May 30 - Assigned Interview date!

June 2 - Interview letter arrived via email.

June 11- Medical appointment Surrey, BC

July 8 - Interview in Montreal!! APPROVED!!!!!!!! July 10 - Visa package and passport in hand!! July 23 - POE!!

oh my god....

i made the most stupid mistake

i didn't sign my optional cover letter that we list all the doc that we put in the iv package.

i didn't sign on my both parents optional cover letter .

would it be a big problem????

i am so worried.....

please help

both my AOS and IV are under review ..

i really don't want to get check list by that little things...

please can someone sugesst me? or anyone else other than me did the same mistake???

should i call NVC?'

04/01/2014 case number and invoiced assigned

04/02/2014 AOS fee paid

04/04/2014 iv fee invoiced. not able to pay yet

04/06/2014 iv fee ok to pay, still in process

04/04/2014 AOS package sent via usps express mail. but weekends hummmmm

04/07/2014 AOS package arrived to NVC ( according to USPS tracking).

04/08/2014 officer lady from NVC said that my AOS packages are received .

04/09/2014 DS 260 completed. make some name mistake. hope it will not delay my case.

04/16/2006 IV package for parents are delivered to NVC ( according to USPS tracking).

04/21/2014 nice lady from NVC confirm that they received my IV package today. .

​04/24/2014 nice lady from NVC confirm that they already accepted my AOS packages for both parents...

Also, we are in the process of collecting my husband's police certificates. I heard that the NVC will accept a "copy" of a police certificate. Does anyone know if this is true?

Thanks again.

Everything at NVC must be original or certified copy. Is it not possible to get two copies of the PCC? We did that. One we sent to NVC, the other she will be carrying with her to the interview.

Don't worry cover letters are as you said, optional. You won't receive a checklist for not signing an optional cover letter. Its not something they require at all. We just include it for the sake of human error and letting them know what's included in the package.
