NVC Filers - April 2014

I will be very interested in the "cut-off" for 2013 tax data on the I-864. NVC received my AOS packet on April 10, but didn't scan it in until April 15. I'm pretty sure I'll have to come up with my 2013 return/transcript, but don't know whether I'll get a checklist for it, or whether my spouse will have to hand-carry a copy to her interview.

I filed a paper copy of my 2013 return, and the IRS won't even tell you where it is in process until 4 weeks AFTER you mailed it in. I tried to check on it today using "Where's My Refund", but when I chose the "paper" option, the screen told me I had to wait.

*IF* I have to mail a copy of my tax return (transcripts for paper files are estimated to take 8 weeks to come online), do I really have to write our case number on each page? My tax return is complicated - it's 80 pages long, and I have about 40 pages of 1099 data. The return is too big to staple together, so my only choice is to put a binder clip on the pages. Of course, my return has my name and Social Security Number on each page. Do you think I can get away with putting the case number on the 1040 pages, and then staple the 1099s together and put the case number on the first page of that?

Also - will the NVC just ask for my tax return, or will I have to fill out a brand new I-864 with 2011, 2012 and 2013 data and sign it?

I sent my paperwork on the 9th and it was received on the 11th... We have the same dates.. I hope we get CC at the same time ! I do have the revised AOS 3 days behind so I guess we'll see.

It sucks that we are just sitting here waiting for them to review our papers. I HOPE it only lasts the 2 weeks. If I have to wait any longer I will go nuts. My sister-in-law keeps asking me when I am coming back to COSTA RICA. I keep telling her I have no idea !! !

I know the feeling, I'm working on a coffee table and cut down part of my tree to make it just to keep busy and I'm already busy. I stayed up pretty much all night until 9 am working on it and slept for two hours. I feel so left behind as logical as that may sound, Feel that all those that can help will be leaving and we will be left by ourselves. Kind of a sinking feeling.

DS-260* is the online form, you can't download it. I'm just suggesting to download DS-230 (this is the old version of the DS-260, before it was electronic). It can also help you prepare for the DS-260 so that you have all your answers ready to go.

What kind of paper work do my in laws need to go get PCC from India? They won't give it without some kind of paperwork saying that the NVC is requesting it

I'm also curious about 2013 tax stuff for AOS. I went ahead and added a few sentences about it to my cover letter in my checklist saying since I live abroad I get an extra two months to file. I plan on filing in a few weeks.

GREAT questions-- I am sending my AOS in this week also- I used my 2012, 2011, 2010 for three previous years and filed 2013 as my CURRENT income- I have not filed yet- I have filed for an extension- I included the last 6 months paycheck stubs and a job letter. I am hoping and praying that I do not have to file for 2013 for them to approve it- for several reasons-- which is another subject-- I think if you sent a copy of your tax return they will automatically request a transcript- therefore I just filed an extension at this point-- withheld my w2 form -- I am not sure if anyone knows the absolute answer because I think it will depend on who is looking at it..

I did the exact same thing. I included a Job verification document from my employer showing my date of hire and current salary as a proof of current income. I included an extension valid until October 2014. I don't anticipate an issue (in chaa Allah).

My AoS packet was delivered to NVC Friday 18-Apr-2014.

Keep in mind, that was back in 2011. Montreal wasn't used to the online system, thus asking everyone for DS-230s. But, after a few months, they finally got it together and are no longer requiring that. It's still of course a good idea to have, but I highly doubt you'll be asked for it, no matter what "version" of the DS-260 you get.

I know, the thing is HUGE. When I was browsing on Amazon, I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw it. It's basically two cat trees in one!

And yes, knowing my luck, I'd spend all that money on the tree and the cat will just curl up in the box or a corner But alas, I don't have to concern myself with that as that cat tree is way too expensive for me. I'll be choosing one much cheaper

Your very welcome, I have purchased one on eBay and they are lovely I would buy two and put them in different rooms. Will be doing this myself.
