Hey guys. So...got my case number. It was entered on April 16th. I was told that I have to wait a week for my invoice number. Is that normal?

I was told that I should get it in a week. She verified my email. I am SO glad that there is a movement.

I got my invoice number same day as case number. Call back later or tomorrow to get it.

Good morning!

So I know everyone or should say majority have had bad experience with immigration lawyers. Well, I was panicking about the AOS packet, so I wanted to confirm that I doing it right. I scheduled an appointment with IL for this morning at 9am. I get there and waiting. Turns out the attorney "didn't put my appointment on her calendar and forgot I was coming" #######? And they offered to meet with someone else, supposedly he is a IL too. I asked how much they charge to fill an AOS and he said $200 per hour. Psh, I already filled everything out, but wasn't sure of something's on the form.

Anyway, can someone please confirm this for me.

I was under the assumption that I can two joint sponsors, but he said he recommends to use one.

My sister is my joint sponsor and she makes 26,000 a year. At first he told me that I have to check poverty line for 3 people ( myself, my immigrant husband, and my sister) and then he said he misspoke and only count my sister and my husband. So, what is the truth? My sister is single, so does she only count herself and my husband when she's looking at the poverty line?

FYI: I love VJ and everyone here. We honestly, don't need IL, I felt like I knew more than him.

I asked what's a good way to check on my case (I knew the answer, but wanted to see what he will say) he goes, just check NVC website, they are good at keeping it updated and they are good about emailing too, #######?

Anyway, that's all for now. I kinda want to call NVC and see if they have a case number for me, but I am afraid they will give me the 30 days #######.

Anyone that NVC received their case on April 15, already have a case number?

You will probably get your case number around June 15th.

Seems like they take a month from when they receive the case at NVC.

We have all his court records and his police certificate. I read that they will fingerprint him at the consulate. Is this correct?

Yes. It's an electronic fingerprinting (not ink and paper.)

Hi all,

I'm in the process of filling out my I-864. What did everyone put in the A-Number box? All zeros? I know you're not supposed to leave anything blank, so I put N/A or None in every other box, but am at a loss as to what to put in this one. Thanks!

Thanks NLR.. So even the parents are never married?

Yes.

I never married my ex boyfriend but that doesn't mean my daughter isn't any less my daughter, even though she lives with her father because she didn't want to move to the USA away from her friends and his family.

none or blank. This is a box that is okay to be blank or write NONE.

It's applicable, you just don't have one.

If my spouse has been working only since past 7 months, does the Current Annual Income be :

  1. Total income(7 months) as stated in IRS Tax return or
  2. Total income(12 months) as stated in the employment letter

Total income as stated in the employment letter = Current Annual income (annual meaning yearly)

Salary x pay periods per year = annual income

hourly wage x hours per week x 52 = annual income

The only time this doesn't apply is for a temporary position where the job ends at a certain date.

You'll be better off sending it with all supporting docs. Think of it as a stand-alone packet! NVC will not pick and choose what to review! Give them the entire packet again to be sure you'll get better result!!

Not needed. Just the amended I-864 is fine.

Cal down and relax!

They just received them and they are still in teh mail room. They receive thousands and thousands of packets everyday,a nd it takes them time to sort them and scan them into the system. They will not know what they have until they scan teh barcode sheet into the system. so just sit back and "relax"!!!!

Quick Question:

I have been told that I need to send ORIGINALS of all civic documents (Birth certificate, marriage certificate etc) for my parent's application.

My question is: I have only one Original for each of the civic documents. Does NVC need two originals of my parent's Marriage certificate and my Birth certificate and my marriage certificate (one for my dad's application and one for my Mom's application)? Please note that I would be sending both their applications in the same envelope and they would appear for the Interviews in mumbai, India at the same time.

Can I submit one set of Originals and provide photocopies?

Please help.

Thanks!

I just put a sticky note on the photocopy in the opposite parents packet stating where they could find the original/certified copy. I also notated on the cover sheet of contents where they could find the originals.
