Hi Guys ,

I am realy stressed out right now, just finish speaking to NVC regarding the checklist i recieved on that it says that my joint sponser does not meet the requirement to file the i-864 form. He is retired since 2011 and he made 39000$ last year on his social security and he has wife , his income is way over the poverty guidelines for household size 3 but since he is retired NVC represntative says that he does not meet the requirement...

just wanna know if this is true that retired person cannot sponsor anyone even though his social security income is well over the povery guidelines

Any help on this would be really helpfull

We have our interview scheduled for May 21st. The operator told me I will need to bring updated I-864 for 2013 and my transcript. I filed as Head of household for 2013 because I am the head of household my husband did not live with me in 2013 and I am a single mother to my son. Is this going to be a issue at the interview?

Filing as head of household is not going to be an issue. If you were due a refund, you will be missing out on getting more money. When your husband arrives the US, be sure to file a 2013 tax amendment (form 1040X) to get more of your refund from the IRS.

Hello! So...does anyone else find that each time they call to get a case update the operator gives different dates? I find it quite funny. I'm just waiting (agonisingly) for them to review an amended AOS (I hope it's correct this time I think I'll cry buckets if not!!!) ...they say 30 days from the date they give me, then each operator gives me a new date. Don't they realise I sit and count 30 business days on the calendar, and a 5 day difference adds a whole week on ;-) !!!! (I know I'm terrible at the waiting game, I have to do the figures). Siiiiggghhhh.......

On a positive note; HUGE congratulations to all the recent case completes and as always, a massive good luck to those still waiting :-)

I am so happy for you-- I understand- sometimes I cry just thinking about that day coming -- i cant imagine it actually happening-- have a great life- carpe diem

Thank you so much. I pray for your case complete very very soon.

Called NVC again, spoke with a really rude lady. She seemed really pissed off and was getting more irritated when i asked more questions. Nobody monitors their call or what? Amazing.Anyways, so finally she did confirm that i do have a case complete. Since i obtained the police certificate in Feb and its valid only for 6 months it was sort of a reminder to take the most recent police certificate for the interview. So alls well by the grace of God.

OMG. Congratulations. The journey is coming to an end very soon for you. Very happy for you. :)

Congratulations!! So glad to hear your happy news and to have been of some help :)

Thank you again. You had been a great help to not just me but I think can speak for others waiting at NVC, too.

Congratulations!!! Very happy for you :goofy:

Thank you.

Congratulations! It must be such a relief! Now go have fun in the other thread :dancing:

Absolutely. Thanks.

OK first things first. I am assuming you are enquiring about how to obtain a PCC for your husband, right?

what do you mean you sent a police clearance from local police department? Which police department where?

Is your husband an indian citizen? where is living right now currently?

I am assuming he is an indian citizen but is not living in India currently. If that is the case, he has 3 options - First option- he needs to go to the indian consulate in whichever country you are and ask them to issue a police clearance certificate. Depending on the consulate it can take 10 days to a few months.

Second option- He doesn't need to go to india himself, if he has family or friends there. He can write an affidavit saying that XYZ will be doing this process for him, and send all the paperwork to them which includes (APPLICATION FORM, photos, and list of addresses, ofcourse his passport copy). Now here i where it gets tricky - you can either go to the local police station where your husband is from OR you can go to the passport center (BOMBAY?DELHI?CALCUTTA or CHENNAI) and do the process from there. I did the local police station and my sister did it for me. It took 3 weeks and that too because my sister was gone for a week. Best of luck

MORE importantly, you can tell the NVC that he will bring the paperwork to the interview. They generally accept that. If it is taking a long time.

I completely, agree. If the beneficiary is living in another country ( I am guessing UK), he can go to the Indian High commission there (London) to obtain a PCC. This will probably be the fastest. The second option is probably going to take little longer. Also, for India NVC has been flexible to accept the package without the PCC with the understanding that the PCC will be produced at the time of the interview.

Congrats on the case complete:)

This might be a silly question, but if i am doing EP and I am scanning the AOS do I scan every page separately and then send it as one email or do scan each form (i864. tax return 2013, etc) as one pdf packet and then attached them into one email?

what i am trying to say is i don't really understand how I am suppose to do the email of documents. I ready the wiki and nvc website, but i stillfeel confused. please help

Scan each form into one pdf package, and attach them all to the email.

Cover letter/ AOS/ Tax transcripts 2011/ 2012/ 2013/ employer letter/ paystubs, etc... each would show up as an attachment.

Maybe peruse the links Saylin has in her Wiki, such as this one:

Time to say good bye to NVC (well almost). Case Completed today. Waiting for interview scheduling. :dancing::dancing:

Too overwhelmed right now. Actually, I don't mind sharing that I am crying now as I am typing...

I am so happy that I found you guys (a very supportive family I might add). Always helpful with very clear suggestions on what to do and what not to do.

I would like to name a few people and would like to say that I am so fortunate to have you by my side helping me all the way - Saylin, Kaylara, Changnoi, NLR, BOS_LHR, Waiting____, Peace500 and many more... Please keep doing what you have done for the rest of us so tirelessly and without any personal benefit. A BIG Thank You.

Now let me go say hi to folks in the next room - May 2014 Interview forum.

Wishing you a bright and happy future with your spouse:)

Got a case # , yay! :)

Hello,

I looked how to obtain this, so my husband has to go to india to get this form from the police seve Kendra or something like that, next available apt for this process is may 13. what do we do? can I call nvc and tell them that he will bring this passport police clearance to the interview? I really need help, we are fed up with this NVC process.. please help :cry::crying::crying:

Hello theluckygirl,

Your checklist will have the exact options you need to pursue. Based on the information you have provided it seems that either your husband is an Indian citizen living abroad or a foreign national who lived in India for a while. If he is an Indian citizen living abroad then he needs to go to the website of the Indian Embassy located in his current country of residence and apply for a Passport Clearance (also called as Police Clearance) Certificate which is issued by the Indian Embassy or Consulate.

If his Indian passport was renewed or issued by the same embassy they can issue the certificate within 2-3 weeks (they usually have the record of your previous police clearance at the time of passport renewal). If the passport was issued in India or some other consulate it could take up to 6 weeks because they send your PCC application for verification to the Passport Seva Kendra in India or the consulate that issued his passport.

You do not need any local certificates if you are not living in India. Also I have asked and NVC told me that in some circumstances they allow case complete with a pending PCC for applicants who are waiting for a PCC from the country they are currently residing i.e. Indians living in India have a possibility of case complete with pending India PCC but not the Indians living abroad.

If he is a foreign national who spent some time in India then the process might be slightly different and maybe someone else with similar situation would be in a better position to help.

I am an Indian national living in Switzerland but my passport was issued by the Indian Embassy in USA so it took me 6 weeks to get the PCC from the Indian Embassy in Switzerland.

Disclaimer: I have submitted my IV package but it has not yet been reviewed or approved.

I hope this helps.
