What would be the time taken for Amending Tax Returns if the only amend is changing filing status from 'Single' to 'Married filing Separately'.

iirc, 8 to 10 weeks during tax season ,

then 10 to 14 weeks when not in tax season.

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !

Greetings to all VJ members from Bangkok!

I would like to ask something, we have have responded to our checklist re our civil docs to NVC, already received and logged in to their system. I asked our lawyer for a copy of my divorce decree translation (translated in the US) from our lawyer. When I read it i saw a mistake, my ex husband's name is Suchai and not Surachai, would I get another checklist for that. I hope not. I think it's a minor thing, the translator just added "ra" to the name.

2014-07- 21 - Status updated still AP 2014-07- 23 - My husband went to the house of Senate and they attended to him right away.

2014-07- 24 - The asst. at the senate responded immediately and contacted the USEM.

2014-07- 28 - Status updated still AP (received an email from the USEM, 1. Applicant, your case is ready to be issued, but your passport #********** needs to be cancelled first & returned to our office at your earliest convenience. Please contact visasbkki@state.gov to pick up your old passport to complete this step.)

2014-07- 28 - Cancelled my old passport and sent them to the USEM.

2014-07- 30 - The embassy received my 2 passports (old and new) 2014-07- 31 - Status updated still AP (Maybe scanned my mail)

2014-08- 08 - Status updated "READY"

2014-08- 13 - Status updated still "READY" I sent them an email re the ready status. Aug. 11 & 12 National holiday USEM closed.

2014-08- 14 - Status updated still "READY" I received an email from the USEM,We have received your said documents. Please be informed that your visa has now been approved. We are working with the preparation of your visa package and will mail it to the applicant address on GSS profile which takes approximately 7-10 days. Applicant should refrain from making any irrevocable travel arrangements until he/she receives.<p>

I am starting to worry now..

Our I-130 was approved last March 21, 2014

Im sure the NVC received the case but they are too busy with managing the backlog and so haven't entered your case into the system.

Relax now and call them back on friday,i have a good feeling you will be getting the news your waiting.

OK, here is my nightly rant :ranting:

I called my lawyer because they didn't answer my emails and I wanted to know if my packages went out. When I called they tried to screen the call and said he was busy... then he said hold on.... Lawyer gets on the phone. I try and be nice he cuts me off and says your files are on paralegals desk. I am not reviewing them today. They will be reviewed tomorrow and fedex'd. You will get a tracking number . So I had a question about the income she used. She used adjusted not total. My total income includes 4 months of unemployment . The adjusted is over the poverty level but I wanted to point that out when he reviews it. He said if the amount is more than the poverty level for a fami ly of 4, they won't kick it back.... He was so short with me like I was bothering him. I swear to God if I get a checklist for that error I will flip out. I could have sent this stuff yesterday when the fees showed PAID. :ranting::protest::ranting:

That's terrible! I gotta play devil's advocate for 2 seconds and say that maybe he was swamped handling other cases at that moment. That's the drawback of using lawyers.

THAT SAID, there still has to be some courtesy and customer service... and the fact that his paralegal used the wrong income amount?? And then tell you it doesn't matter?? I sure hope he is starting to realize that he can't BS you like that anymore.

Hi,

While we are filling out the online form DS-260, we realize that under the tab "Work/Education/Training" (one of the blue tabs on the left hand side), our form only has two items: "Present" and "Additional". The item "Previous" is missing. Without the "Previous", we are not able to input any previous jobs and educations information to the form.

I called NVC about this problem. They login to our DS-260 form and they also see the item "Previous" is missing. They said that the item "Previous" should be there under that tab, but they keep telling me that NVC is not able to fix this problem and they do not know who can fix this.

Does anyone has this same problem? Anyone knows how to solve this problem?

Hi,

In the vjWiki about NVC Process, it says for form I-864 if the answer is none or N/A, do NOT leave blank. For example, if I don't have a middle name, should I put N/A in the box of Middle Name? And what about Part 7? If I prepare the form by myself, should I put N/A on all the lines in Part 7?

Okay I'm quoting myself but I just found this link on VJ about someone else in a similar situation and apparently you cannot file MFS or MFJ or married at all if you're doing e-filing when your spouse is a non resident without a SSN. So I'm assuming we're ok with my husband having filed Single.
