Hi everyone!i just got my permanent green card last week and it's dated 2/13/2012 and expires 3/18/2024. I entered here as k1 and happily married to my husband who petitioned me. so based on marriage I could file for citizenship in a 3 yrs base. can somebody tell me when can I file for my citizenship?thank you guys

I can only assume that since your permanent GC doesn't expire until 2024 it must be the 10-yr GC. If so, and since you have been married for at least 3 yrs. you can start the N-400 (citizenship) application process anytime. You have until the 10-yr GC expires... Or, longer if you choose to renew the 10-yr. GC.

September 1, 2010: Switched course from K1 to CR-1
December 8, 2010: Wedding date set; it will be on February 18, 2011!
February 9, 2011: Depart for China
February 11, 2011: Registered for marriage in Wuhan, officially married!!!

April 22, 2011: Mailed I-130 to Chicago
April 28, 2011: Received NOA1 via text/email, file routed to CSC (priority date April 25th)

May 3, 2011: Received NOA1 hardcopy in mail
July 26, 2011: Received NOA2 via text/email!!!
July 30, 2011: Received NOA2 hardcopy in mail
August 8, 2011: NVC received file
September 1, 2011: NVC case number assigned
September 2, 2011: AOS invoice received, OPTIN email for EP sent
September 7, 2011: Paid AOS bill (payment portal showed PAID on September 9, 2011)
September 8, 2011: OPTIN email accepted, GZO number assigned
September 10, 2011: Emailed AOS package
September 12, 2011: IV bill invoiced
September 13, 2011: Paid IV bill (payment portal showed PAID on September 14, 2011)
September 14, 2011: Emailed IV package
October 3, 2011: Emailed checklist response (checklist generated due to typo on Form DS-230)
October 6, 2011: Case complete at NVC
November 10, 2011: Interview - APPROVED!!!
December 7, 2011: POE - Sea-Tac Airport

September 17, 2013: Mailed I-751 to CSC

September 23, 2013: Received NOA1 in mail (receipt date September 19th)

October 16, 2013: Biometrics Appointment

January 28, 2014: Production of new Green Card ordered

February 3, 2014: New Green Card received; done with USCIS until fall of 2023*

December 18, 2023:  Filed I-90 to renew Green Card

December 21, 2023:  Production of new Green Card ordered - will be seeing USCIS again every 10 years for renewal

Ok so if you married here is the math

2/13/2012+3 years -90 days

if you apply based on 5 year

2/13/2012+5 years -90 days

that's when you can send application

How about the same situation but I got divorced 2 years after getting married? They gave me the 10 year green s aacard. Can I still apply after 3 years of the marriage date?

No rickypaz...now that you are divorced you must apply under the 5 year rule.

11/14/16... I-130 packet for my parents sent via UPS to Phoenix

11/15/16... I-130 packet received (Priority Date)

11/18/16... Checks cashed, received emails and text messages at 5:22pm, cases routed to Texas Service Center

02/22/17... NOA2 for Mom received (Notice Date 02/15/17)

02/28/17... NOA2 for Dad received (Notice Date 02/17/17)

03/01/17... Status online shows application sent to NVC 

03/17/17... Received emails from NVC for next steps!

03/21/17... Went online to Choose an Agent

03/28/17... Received emails from NVC confirming Agent selection and to proceed with the next step (paying fees!)

04/05/17... Paid the $120 Immigrant Visa Application Processing Fee online today (Also eligible to pay the $325 Fee but will wait before doing so...)

April-August... Took a break from the process in order to move back from USVI to mainland USA.

08/07/17... Paid the IV Fees for both my parents ($325 each) today

08/23/17... Called NVC because payment still showing "In Process", was advised to email proof of payment to have them manually correct it

08/24/17... CEAC website shows "Paid" and can now have parents' DS-260 forms filled in.

Married - Sept 10,2011

Greencard since - Feb 13,2012

Out of country - Aug 10,2014 - Sept 10,2014

So I'm already 3 yrs married to my husband since last month…When can i file for my citizenship then?since I'm also out of the country for a month this year.Thank you and i appreciate your kind ideas….

Greencard since - Feb 13,2012

Out of country - Aug 10,2014 - Sept 10,2014

The month out of the country doesn't matter.

You can file 90 days before your 3 year green card anniversary (assuming your husband has been a citizen for 3 years).

Enter February 13, 2015 into the early filing calculator and it'll tell you the day you can send in your application:
