I had my interview on march 19. We had all our paperwork in order. More than enough evidence of a concrete relationship for 1 year and 8 months. Dont know what the problem was that they put us in AP. They interviewed both of us seperate and all our answers matched. I am freaking out. I wouldnt know what to do if we get denied. Can anyone give me advice that have been through this

Was this the second interview? I'm wondering since many K-1 filers that petitioners had involved in their beneficiaries interview -Stokes Interview- after the consular officer did not satisfy for the previous one.

I am sorry you are going through this. You are the third couple (with a Cuban beneficiary) in recent months who have had to undergo AP after the interview. My guess is that the US Interests Section is receiving a lot more visa requests and are therefore scrutinizing each case more.

My fiance and I also had to go through AP. They never really told us the reason why but my guess is that it had to do something with his profession (he is a microbiologist.) After 30 days, we got our senator and congressperson involved. He was finally approved 45 days after the interview.

Did they return your fiance's passport?

There's really not much you can do at this point but wait. If 30 days pass, I would suggest contacting your senator and/or congressperson and ask them to make an inquiry on your behalf.

Good luck!

They did keep his passport. After they interviewed us, they told us that he was initially approved but that they needed a copy of his CV. He brought his CV they next day and they told him to check back in a week. When he went a week later, that is when they told him that the case had to undergo further AP.

Did they give you any indication as to why or did they request additional information?

No they didnt tell us why or request anymore information. My packet was done by an attorney. Nothing was missing. The only thing i can imagine is they are doing a background check maybe cause he was in the military service but you know that is mandatory for men in cuba he just served his two years and he never belong to any communist party

oh this frightens me. I am waiting till after my fiancee's tourist interview this month on the 20th to see if he is approved to visit here before I file for a visa. We might end up getting married while he is here visiting and then I would apply for the spouse visa vs. the fiancee visa..

We do not talk but maybe 2-3 times a month and emails are few and far between due to the lack of internet in Cuba..

We also have a laguage barrier when apart. When together we understand one another lol but over the phone ha not a chance.

Im fearing we will get denied due to all this but I have everything needed photos, phone records, emails, boarding passes, passport stamps, his family and friends.

I hope that everything works out for you and they get back to you soon with an approval!! Keep us posted and GOOD LUCK

Liz, what is the phone service you use? I use Cuballama.com for text, we do text each other from 10-15 times a day. I call him using AVT app on my Iphone which is 0.62/m. I use Simple Mobile for my cell provider, and they have free unlimited international text. So when I send him text it is free, but for him to text me using cuballama 0.19 plus 0.9cent from his credit. It is always good to know and share what is out there. Let me know what you use.

I hope soon your case will be approved!

I don't call him often because of the costs. I am not working right now and a cell bill of 200 dollars kills me. So we email back and forth and talk once a a week here and there.

I will have to look into the app you just posted zetete!
