Hi Everyone!

I am making copies of my I-130 Package for my french husbands immigration to the US and I have gotten tons of useful information from this website!

Thanks so much to everyone for sharing all the information.....I'm certain it has kept me from going totally *bonkers* over all this paperwork.

But I do have one question.....for all of my documents that I have had translated.....do I send in the Originals of the translations (with the translators signatures) or should I only send copies of the tanslation papers....and keep the originals that she signed in case I they ask for them at a later date?

I am sending only copies of all other documents, as it requests, but I have assumed all along that I would send the originals of the translations....but then I woke up in the middle of the night in a panic thinking "Oh No....what if they ask for them later and I don't have them??" (I've been having mini-panic attacks about making a mistake or missing something and have spent days double and triple checking everything like a mad-woman!!.....I used to do government mortgages so I know how picky they can be! UGH!!)

Well thanks in advance for any advice or tips on this......It's greatly appreciated! :)

Hello Cme4loanz,

what a great question ;-) I had the same concern all the time, but refused to ask since we´ve already sent in our I130 in December last year..

Well, in our case we accidentially submitted the original translation of my devorce decree but i kept a copy of it. Everything else, like my son´s birth cirtificate, i´ve sent the copy of the translation. The good thing is, that my translator files any translation he ever made, so if additional translations are needed i could just call them up and get one for less than the original price.

In the I130 instructions they say to only submit copies unless original documents are required. So actually i do believe that copies are enough.

If there was a problem with it, they would send a RFE anyways. Sure we all would like to avoid that, but just follow the instructions and you should be good :)

I can so much understand these panic attacks feelings and acting like a mad-woman :jest: Same here, but now it´s this waiting that´s driving me nuts :clock:

Hope everythings works out just fine for you and yours and wishing you a fast going process!

Bye from Berlin :)

Since original signatures are usually required, send the original translation paper with the original signature.

Thanks DnKnT and Ryan!

I think I will go ahead and send the original signed translations, just to be on the safe side .......like you said DnKnT, I can always get extra originals from my translator (who thankfully lives very close and is very nice!)

Thanks again and wishing you both swift and trouble-free processing! (I'm not looking forward to the next step......."waiting".... either...Ugh!)
