First off I would like to say this is where I met my wife. I assume that many others on VJ became members of a dating website before joining this one. I was living in the states and through some of my friends who were members of DIA and had traveled to the Philippines I joined the site. The first week was amazing, so many beautiful Pinays were showing interest and it became addictive. Weeding through the scammer's to find my special lady took some time. So many a video chat later I narrowed the field down to a select few and bought my plane ticket and made my move to the Philippines.

On arrival the select few all wanted to be the first one that I would meet, tough decision. Long story short I settled in a nice little house in the province with my #1 choice and began a new life.

I think that almost every eligible and many not eligible ladies were members of DIA. Did not matter if they had boyfriends or even if they were married. I stayed away from the ones that had an address in Pampanga, no offense but I filtered these out. Most all the Pinays I have met wanted a foreigner and mostly an American. I would see them in the internet cafe's chatting with many a guy, they become experts at the game. I have seen many of these ladies swept off their feet and taken to far off countries to live a life much better than the one they left behind. Most of them are happy and I have seen them return home with their husbands during their holidays.

I spent years with her before I decided to bring her to the USA, not an option for many of us but I had the luxury of doing so. I really ever thought I would return to the USA, was not in my long term plans but I did. So now my wife is here in states and we have our child and life is good. She is adapting but misses life in the PI. If it were not for DIA my life would be much different.

Anyone else?

hello friend, yes I met my wife on Asian dating site after going through so many scammer types. We live chatted on Skype and YM for almost a year. I finally went over last may 20, 2013 and had a wonderful 3 weeks. Met almost the entire family. We married June 3, 2013. Her interview is March 24 (tomorrow). Hopefully the embassy gets her visa out quickly. I am hearing and reading stories of a lot of embassy delays.

Yes, when I was there, in Manila, a lot of Filipino still hit on me even though I was with my girl. Almost all Filipinos tried to rip me off, especially taxi cab drivers but my girl set them straight. Also, we had to watch going out at night, a lot of bad and poor people in Manila

Hey Bruce,

yes I hope most can filter out the scammers. The Philippines is chock full of them but also the genuine ones too. Good luck on your wifes interview! The cab drivers in MNL are a pain but I never really had much of an issue. I had one who hit the side streets before we got to our destination but I turned on my google maps and saw the route he was taking, knew the area well enough and he lost. Manila is not for the naive, be prepared and carry a big stick.

Another DIA user here. Found it completely by chance. (A friend was in Jakarta visiting his fiance, ran into an Aussie "with a hot Indo GF", and my friend asked him where he found her. The Aussie said DIA, and my friend told me about it.

Just as OP did, I posted a profile, and had PLENTY of scammers contact me. Usually using pictures that you KNOW aren't them. One asked me to fund her university tuition, etc.

Even had the pushy older woman who wouldn't take a polite NO for an answer. Finally, when she stated that the reason that I didn't like her, was because I was gay, I had to take off the safety, and give her the laundry list of reasons I wasn't interested. That seemed to do it. WEIRD!

Oh ya, it goes on and on. Many of them want you to buy them a webcam so they can do video but it's all a scam. Others need internet cafe money and they are so far to internet cafe that travel money too, friend of mine got scammed on this. Many are guys with pics of ladies in sexy poses. There are also the ones that will meet for money. I have had countless friends use it for getting set up in advance when they take a side trip to another island or city, just have sex with them and leave which...is really bad if the lady is really looking for that someone special. All said and done though I would say 1/2 are genuine. I had over 1000 interests and 100s of chats and only had 3-4 that I would have ever considered meeting. Best to be cautious, being naive and thinking these girls really want you cause your so gwapo is setting you up for a fall. Myself I could not meet someone and do the fiance thing, just not enough knowledge of who they are and the video and chatting can be quite deceptive.

I posted on CL Philippines...and got 25+ replies...only 1 young woman kept interest...I posted no pic of myself...just my YM and SKYPE screen name...24 women said "Hi, hello." one liners, gold diggers, green card chasers. Only 1 out of 25 kept communicating with me...when she first saw me on Skype, I saw the way she looked at me...she knew I was special...today, she passed her interview for Visa. Now the PI embassy is asking for MORE FINANCIAL PROOF.

Huh? She showed them the I-134 form; what more do they need?

They also want more "ONGOING PROOF" of a relationship. That's not a problem. We talk every day.

Any 411 on "more financial proof" is appreciated.

My flight is booked for April 7th to Manila...to petition for my new born son.
