Ok, so in reading a few threads, I have become to become very anxious that I have messed a number of things up. Can anyone just read over what I have and make sure I am not missing anything please?

Copies of everything submitted and received to this point

Passport and letter from Packet 4 right on top

my Birth Certificate (long copy)

Police check (from both countries I have lived in)

Original divorce order

New letters of intent from both of us

David:

1-134 1 x notarized and 1 x copy

1-134 supplement

pay stubs

tax transcripts

bank letter

Co-sponsor:

1-134 1 x notarized and 1 x copy

Job letter

pay stubs

tax transcripts

bank letter

DS-156 (computer / online generated)

DS-156 supplement (visits to US)

DS-156K

DS-230 Part II

2 photographs

$100 US cash

Medical stuff (when I get it)

Proof of ongoing relationship.

School records - just in case.

A complete copy of the entire package.

I saw my doctor this week for the recent DTP (whatever) shot and have my medical on Mondaycoming. We are down to the wire now and I am so on edge that a falling feather could set me off. Please anyone, if I am missing anything - say so.

Thanks all.

Monique

Monique,

It all looks in order, though more eyes are always helpful. :) You need copies of police, birth cert, divorce letter, letter of intent(though he only needs to supply it, not you) 156, 156K. So yeah, copies of everything submitted to this point or not. They only took the required info from my fiancee, not copies of the original packet, but it doesn't hurt just in case.

They put your stuff in two piles and I guess two people look at it.

One other thing: Don't forget the letter to get in the building. They'll let you in(we had a faxed copy but passports would work too), but the stress isn't worth it.

Good luck!

Thanks for the quick reply. What is worrying me most now is whether we need 1 or 2 original notarized I-134 forms and whether or not the tax transcripts also have to be notarized AND if so, how many copies.

Monique, take a deep breath because you are very well prepared. JG gave good advice.

It's unclear whether we need two notarized I-134s or one notarized and two copies. To quell your fears, and since there's time, go overboard and get extra notarized copies of everything you want, including tax transcripts. They may not be needed but if they help you sleep better ...

You seem to be first up with the new systemn of mailing passports, so maybe they'll be more empathetic. I'm a day after you and have only now started to go into high-stress gear. Everybody panicks at the last minute but says later it was unwarranted! Like everyone else, you'll be fine! You have nothing to worry about!

P.S. Bring a small purse, and no cell or keyless remote!

The word panic cannot even begin to explain what I am feeling. Somebody mentioned two notarized I-134's and I read in the pinned I-134 notes that the transcripts have to be notarized. AARRGGGHHH. Now I'm considering sending this stuff back to the states to get it notarized. Or can I do that here (I'm back in the good old T-dot now).

Whatever ... all I know is drinks in my room on the 16 and 17th for anyone in Montreal!

He's the one who must swear the information is true, so it has to be notarized in the States. But I believe it's enough to have one notarized original (they may ask to see) and copies (they may keep).

You could fax or "overnight" his tax transcripts back to the States for notarization; there's time. But I've never heard of anyone being denied a visa because of a lack of notarized docs. Do what makes you feel comfortable.

Looks good.

I'm one of the weirdos who has 2 notarized copies of the Affadavit of Support :P

Letters from employers, paystubs, etc.

But... as far as tax returns go I have last years from each sponsor clearly marked "COPY" which I'll make my own photocopies of sometime this week, and then a 10 lb pile of old tax returns simply printed out on legal size paper. None of these are notarized. I put up a fight about this and lost; both my fiance and his parents (co-sponsors) argued that there is no place to notarize tax returns, or they are unable to be notarized or something like that, and refused to do it.

So I guess I'm goin' in with them unsigned /shrug.

I'm not happy about it but there's precisely nothing I can do.

They also refused to send me W2s, saying they were useless. Since I'm not a USC, I have no idea whether any of this is true.

Edited for spelling.

Hi Monique,

Don't kill the messenger...

I notice your evidence includes original divorce order. Is this from your divorce? As a divorcee, I was required to bring both the divorce and marriage certificates (certified) from my previous marriage.

Now I think on this board, there has been some discussion about this. One part of the discussion always seems to be "why a marriage certificate if they have the divorce certificate??" I was interviewed in Vancouver, and it was a requirement there, however someone once said, it was not a requirement in Montreal? So silly the differences...

If someone who's been in this situation from Montreal wants to respond, please do so. Just wanted you to know that it was a requirement in Vancouver. Unfortunately we also see that sometimes people don't get asked for things either. It was one of the things I was slow in handing over though in Vancouver, and they did ask for it.

If no one responds from a Montreal experience, I'd get a copy just to be on the safe side.

Best of luck on your interview!

moz, from what I've read here, a copy of the I-134 is okay. I just have two notarized copies because it's easier for me to hand my fiancé two notarized copies and then he doesn't have to worry about which one is legit and which is a copy. So if you're stressing because of my post, don't, because honestly, I probably have no clue either. ;)

Yes, a copy of the notarized I-134 is fine. That's what we had and there weren't any issues.

Carla (F)

I'll never kill the messenger, don't worry, just the jackasses who make and change the rules on a whim :-).

No - I confirmed with Montreal that they do not require the marriage certificates (though I do have a copy of it). The original was handed in when I got divorced.

As for the transcripts --- perhaps I will do as advised and overnight them for notarization. I would hate for that to be the one thing that delays or prevents the visa from happening.

Thanks again so much all for answering my pleas for help - crazy and panic struck as they are.

Quick question for you about the tax transcripts. Is that necessary? My fiance didn't give me that and I don't remember reading about that either... Can you confirm whether you need the tax transcript or not? Our interview is Jan 16 so I may bump into you on Jan 17 if we're still able to pick up the visas at the consulate. Good luck!

Ive read and reread the I-134 instructions and can't find where the transcripts are even required but lets say they are for some reason I would assume the same rules would apply as for the I-864 where they are not required to be notorized.

from the I_864 instructions

"You are not required to have the IRS certify the transcript or photocopy unless specifically instructed to do so by a Government official; a plain transcript or photocopy is acceptable. Telefile tax records are not acceptable proof of filing. '

Just as I was reading this, I had another window open to take a look at the I-864. Good idea. Thanks for the input.

I noticed you have a supplement for visits to the US. I was just looking at this the other day, and I'm not sure how I should fill it out. I've made dozens of visits to the US in the past 6 months and many many visits the rest of my life that I couldn't possibly document properly. Any experience with this?
