K-1 Visa Form DS-156K

Hello All,

Form DS-156K, lists that all unmarried children under age of 21 must be listed(Question #5). And that birth certificate must be submitted.

FYI: My fiancée(beneficiary) is a Chinese Citizen

My fiancée is not applying for her child to accompany her to the US.

she is having trouble getting the birth certificate from her former husband.

My fiancée has her child's ID paper with her information but no picture(standard piece of paper for citizens).

I presume whether or not the child is accompanying my fiancée or not, they require this info and documents(birth cert)

Do we HAVE TO get the birth certificate of the child? Or will this ID suffice?

Please advise or any recommendations

Thanks in advance

Why are you filling out that form? I do not see it listed in the instructions for China > http://www.ustraveldocs.com/cn/K_Visa_Instructions.pdf

Is an old form replaced in part by the new all-inclusive DS-160 firm

Phil (Lockport, near Chicago) and Alla (Lobnya, near Moscow)

As of Dec 7, 2009, now Zero miles apart (literally)!

The DS-160 replaced all other DS forms for a K-1 application, as of Oct. 7, 2013. Have only heard of the DR asking for the DS-156K still. Different consulates have different procedures and requirements. You need to research for the one that you will interview at. Jamaica info here on VJ> http://www.visajourney.com/consulates/index.php?ctry=Jamaica&cty=Kingstone And these are the general requirements for all K-1 applicants > http://travel.state.gov/content/visas/english/immigrate/types/family/fiance-k-1.html#6
