Thanks all. Yes, airfares can be that outrageously different from Egypt than Morocco. The flights to JFK don't help since it's another 3-500 from JFK to Chicago. We'll see. He still has some stuff to wrap up and he'll start looking when the visa is in his hand, hopefully later this week.

Try Lufthansa. That was the cheapest flight we got. He traveled at the end of February, but was two years ago. Anyway, the flight was 900 dollars.

Since he'll already be in the country and through his POE, he doesn't need the same carrier from New York to Chicago. I've seen flights between those two cities for as little as $49. Just book it into NY and find a better priced flight with a different airline to Chicago.

Hi ijust come to US last DEC i bough ticket from iberia airlines in casablanca it was 1100$ your husband can check them website if he want to come in the first week of april the ticket will be between 900$ to 1100$ but the only problem that he need to stay over night in Madrid spain and he can leave the airport cause he dont have Spain visa, but when i come i meet some moroccan there it was good even if need to sleep in airport but it was good if he want cheaper ticket. air france it little expansive. one more point if he want to buy ticket online you need to pay for it bcs he cant do that with moroccan bank card. but if he want pay for it he need pay cash. good luck

Guys, thanks. I was really just ranting in the beginning. My husband will take care of his own ticket in Morocco. He'll use a travel agent as they are supposed to. He won't be buying online. We've got it covered. He's going to buy a round trip ticket with a return date several months away because his mother is very ill and he's been her caretaker. We're both worried about her and when he'll need to return.

Sorry to read about his mother. It must be mixed feelings for him right now.

little story...

You know I had a little extra time in Casablanca...and across the street was an AF office. I went in and it was the worst service there. They had many many people waiting and not very ambitious or curious service people working.

It reminded me a little of eastern block country back in the late late 80's...attempting private enterprise. You wait like cattle quietly to be spoken rudely to. hahahaha.

I always found booking online is the best, fastest and most economical way. Maybe it is only me but I prefer to be in control.

What did you mean he will use a travel agent as they are suppose to? just curious.

I know I'm a little late but I've gotten round trip tickets on turkish for $500 - 700 and $1000 - 1200, depending on the time of the year and holidays going on in Morocco. Turkish for me always the cheapest. . .

No worries, he bought the ticket a couple weeks ago and found an outrageously good one-way deal without having to spend too much extraneous times in various airports.

In the recent approval of my husband's waiver and his impending trip to the consulate tomorrow to drop of his medical and clearances, I was curious to find out how much the one-ways are from either RBA or CMN... and holy expletives, Batman! On Delta, a one-way is averaging $3400 USD. Flights are much cheaper on Kayak but the travel times are 34 hours.

That's really it, I just needed to rant about the price of air travel.

Try skyscanner or priceline . Its also a lot more expensive in summer months. Good Luck to you both :)

www.momondo.com

That is the website I ALWAYS book on. SUPER cheap airfares. Was able to go around the world to 7 different countries on that website for $2,100 a couple years ago.
