Is the NVC a black hole?

Is the NVC a black hole? By that I mean, should we expect to receive any notices via snail mail or email from the NVC?

We know the NVC received and forwarded our approved petition to the consulate (in Guangzhou) because we have received our notice from the consulate to submit our D-160 and other pre-interview documents.

Does that mean that we have no reason to contact the NVC and the NVC has no reason to contact us?

If so, that's great, because we have changed both our U.S. and China addresses since we submitted our petition to USCIS. That means the NVC does not have a correct address for us. Does that matter?

The consulate and USCIS both have our correct addresses, it's only the NVC that does not (unless they are connected to the USCIS or consulate's database somehow).

china/guangzhou K-1 visa chasing is a bit different.

First, get the GUZ casefile # from NVC.

Second, track status at the ceac website (not ustraveldocs.com)

when you see the status change to 'administrative processing' then set up the account at ustraveldocs.com/cn and pay the fee at CITIC bank. There's also a P3 floating around , so study the contents of the P3 for what to return back to the IV Unit and how.

short version: pay at Citic Bank, register an account at ustraveldocs.com/cn and make notice of the payment receipt, send stuff out to GUZ IV listed on the P3 document, and wait. whilst waiting, check on ustraveldocs.com/cn for self-scheduling. have yer lass find and Join a QQ group for chasing an appointment in the scheduling system .

There's more to handle, but that's the short version.

We know the NVC received and forwarded our approved petition to the consulate (in Guangzhou) because we have received our notice from the consulate to submit our D-160 and other pre-interview documents.

Then pay the fee and move on, aye? NVC DOC INTAKE does occur for spousal visas (CR-1, IR-1) but since yer not chasing that type of visa, your interaction at NVC is black-box (and not black hole).

How I wish that was true! I'm currently stuck in the NVC magnet, tar pit, trap. :-(

I suggest to call and email NVC to get your case #

For the NVC:

Checking on your embassy case number: As of late its taking upwards of 8 weeks for NVC to receive your file from USCIS after you receive the NOA2, then for NVC to get your file in their system and get the MNL # from USEM. Call after 4:45 PM eastern time for shorter wait times K1's are not tracked through the AVR, ever. They are processed like an immigrant visa, but they are NOT immigrant visas, so they fall into a completely different class of their own. Therefore you need an operator.

To get there: 1-603-334-0700 Operator assistance is available Monday through Friday from 7:30 AM to 12:00 AM (Eastern Time)

Press 1 for English
Press 5 for an operator

NVC CONTACT INFORMATION:

Website: http://travel.state.gov/visa/immigrants/info/info_3177.html

E-mail: NVCInquiry@state.gov The email request for your MNL # is also a great way to track when your file is forwarded to USEM as NVC will not reply to the email until that time. ;-)

If your petition is delayed or "lost" between USICS shipping it to NVC use this email: nvcresearch@state.gov

REQUIRED SECURITY INFORMATION:

You are required to provide the following security information with each inquiry to receive a case specific response:

* NVC Case Number or USCIS Receipt Number (Place in the subject line of the e-mail).
* Petitioner's name and date of birth.
( NOTE: If the visa petition is employment-based, include the employer's company/organization name instead of the petitioner's name and date of birth. )
* Principal Applicant's name and date of birth. (Beneficiary)

Is your timeline accurate? I see stuff there that bothers me.

15 days to get NOA2 is accurate, and I did in fact "get lucky" an get a March 26th interview date. Which at this point is in doubt due to the NVC holding on to my case for no reason. When I entered my appointment date, it ASSUMED that the embassy had received the case. THAT, isn't true. But everything else is.

What bothers you?
