Hi there,

I am a US Citizen and I petitioned my mother under IR-5 immigrant visa category. My mother has finished her immigrant visa interview at the US Embassy Manila last week, March 6, 2014. The interview went well and the American consular officer officer told her that all her requirements are complete. She was asked to proceed to the next step/stage and wait for her name to be called again. The Filipino officer called my mother that her case is under "Internal Checking" in Washington and told her to wait for the delivery of her visa within the week. She was also advised to call or email the Embassy if she does not receive her visa within one week.

After her visa interview, I checked her visa status on CEAC website and it says that the case is "READY for interview" (March 6, 2014). The case was updated on March 11, 2014 and March 13, 2014 but it is still in "READY for interview" status.

It has been one week since my mother's visa interview and she has not received her visa so I called the US Embassy Manila today and they told me that my mother's case is still under Administrative Processing.

Anyone else here that has the same situation? I am getting worried. How long does it usually take for the US Embassy to finish their "Internal Checking"?

It's hard to pinpoint when the date of your mothers visa will be approved and issued. These cases can sometimes take a week but others have taken 2 sometimes 3 weeks and others much longer. The best you can do is continue to monitor the status on CEAC and if needed, continue to be in touch with the USEM be contacting them within reasonable timeframes.

Thank you Greenbaum. I really appreciate your advise. I am just so worried because my mother's CEAC case status is still "READY for interview" one week after her visa interview.

I am still praying that her visa gets approved soon because I am pregnant and I want her to be with me during my pregnancy.

It has only been 5 days, remember you don't count weekends as the embassy is not open on weekends. If there were no issues during the interview then all should be fine... just be patient a little longer. Also once the status changes to ISSUED it can take another 7-10 before it is delivered, most receive it quicker.

Thank you Hank_.

We will call the US Embassy Manila on Monday again (that's the 7th working day) after my mother's visa interview to get an update.

I, too petitioned my mother. Her case was completed march 6 and was sent also to embassy. Her case has been expedited and until now I have not received her interview schedule appointment although others who are in her same timeline have gotten their schedule already.

I am losing my cool since it has taken the same amount of time compare to the once who didn't expedite their cases.

Why do you think mum still have not been scheduled yet? :(

Your mom/you will make the appointment, being your mom is expedited.

Either call or do it online. You can use the info in my link for this (even if it is for K-1)
