Ok, a few of us who are thinking about the next step are a little confused about the Adjustment of Status medical requirements.

So I just had my medical, I have the envelope that I will bring to Montreal. What happens from there? I assume that they would approve me, put the papers from the medical in the envelope I'll get with my return envelope that has my passport and I bring with me to the border and that CBP will forward it to USCIS. Is this correct? Do I need to somehow obtain other papers or what?

I see on your timeline that your K1 hasn't been approved yet, am I correct? for AOS you'll need a Civil Surgeon to fill out your I-693. I suggest you follow these guidelines http://www.visajourney.com/content/guides. Good luck!

I think if you send in the AOS right away you don't have to.

After all the medical is good for 6 months after it's done. If you get it done close to the interview date, immigrate as soon as you have the visa, etc etc... the medical should still be valid.

Ughhh, thanks but that doesn't help me in anyway - I know I haven't been approved yet, but if you read what I wrote, I mean AFTER.

Ok, SORRY! geez... I did read what you wrote, that's why I gave you the link to the guidelines, whatever

sorry, re-read what you put earlier. When I wrote my comment it was 3am I think and I was bleary eyed... I've been meaning to update my comment. Either way I apologize and appreciate the link.

I think it seems ridiculous that less than a month after having done a physical that the US government accepts, I'll have to pay another doctor for no good reason to confirm what the US government already has. Makes no sense, which is why a lot of us (I'm not just speaking for myself) are confused and would have loved a real world answer from someone who had just done it.

When I had my medical done I asked for a copy of the vaccination worksheet... DS something something I think. When I applied for AOS I just sent along a photocopy of that worksheet and didn't have to see a civil surgeon or anything. Theoretically when you POE the border takes your medical paperwork and forwards it on to the appropriate government body to deal with. I'm not sure if I would have had to do something without that sheet attached or not. It wasn't listed as required on my AOS paper list of documents....

I have my vaccines worksheet and xray stuff, I asked medysis for it, which they attach to my medical report and the consulate gave me, besides the one I will get with my passport.

Hi VeeNDee, just a quick question, you didnt have to see a civil surgeon, in other words, you omit that particular form right? did you get approved yet, did they over look it, because I probably will be doing the same in the next few days.

Thanks

It depends on what the DS-3025 says. If it says you will require more vaccinations, then you will need to take care of that and get the I-693 filled out as well. Otherwise, as long as your medical is still valid when you apply for AOS, then just send the DS-3025. I think it's valid for a year, someone mentioned 6 months but we waited until right before the visa expired (6 months) before moving and getting married, and another month to file AOS, and we had no issues just sending in the DS-3025.

Rob & Monika, VeeNDee, sorry I am a novice in this, I got my passport and the brown envelope back last week, and will be moving soon, I have tried following the timeline on the next steps, but some steps looks complicated especially to someone like me... but VisaJourney forum has been helpful up till now. I appreciate and thank everyone that contributes to this forum.

Rob & Monika, you said ''It depends on what the DS-3025 says, If it says you will require more vaccinations, then you will need to take care of that and get the I-693 filled out as well'' how do I figure this out, is it a general form I have to fill out? or will I be getting a separate DS-3025??

Thanks

It was filled out at the medical. It used to be returned when you hand them the medical paperwork at the interview. I've notice an increasing number of people not getting this form back from Montreal. It's possible that if you have all of your vaccinations, that they just filed it and you need to do nothing more with it for AOS. But I haven't heard a clear explanation from anyone in this situation on how they got through AOS.

I just sent in my AOS packet, I included NOTHING medical wise, no copy of this DS-3025 I hear people talk about, didn't go see a civil surgeon or anything. I had my medical done in December, & when I went to my interview nothing was given back to me. & when I went to my medical I had all my vaccinations up to date. I didn't want to pay to have a civil surgeon fill anything out if it wasn't necessary..so I sent nothing. I am just going to wait and see if I get an RFE and if I do..then I will have to go get it filled out! I will post if I do get an RFE! I am hoping they have everything on file already but we will see!
