Hi everyone! My fiance and I are at the final stages of the process- he will be going to his interview in 2 weeks. We don't know any details about the interview process- Does anyone have any info that might help us be more prepared?

Thanks!

Hi skb,

You should try contacting some of the brazilians who went thru a fiancée visa interview in Rio. Mine was a CR1 visa, but I can tell you how it works at the consulate.

First you have to stand in a line outside. Please let him know that it's not the regular tourist visa line. It's a smaller line a little further ahead. They will let him in, x-ray his bag. If he brings any electronics (phone, MP3, camera) he'll need to leave it with the guard. They will give him a little paper so he can claim it later. Then he has to go to the second floor. There they'll give him a number. A little later a lady will come and hand him a list with the order that the documents should be in. Then they will start calling into two other rooms by their numbers to turn in the documents. After everyone has done that, they will start calling people in another room, also by their numbers. But this time it is not in order. For example, I was #7 and I was called in 4th. I think it depends on whether you had all the documents ready. Some people had to pay fees and bring their receipts later. Make sure he has everything before going to the interview. Once the visa has been approved you'll get a green slip to pick up the visa the next day (or the day after, it depends).

Now I can't tell you what he's going to be asked as it depends from person to person. Plus my husband was with me and I think that helped a lot.

Good luck on his interview. I hope I could help you in some way.
