Don't have birth certificate

I asked my fiance who lives in London if he still has his birth certificate. And he doesn't. I read that this will be needed.

Does anyone know what he'll need to do to get one?

Will they ask for this document BEFORE appointing him an interview date or is this something he'll need to bring to the interview?

We've received NAO2 hard copy on 2/18, so it's been almost a month since we heard anything from anyone about the progress of the visa...

You can begin the process of getting a copy of his birth certificate he should go here. I had to do this a few years ago as I only had the short birth certificate without my parents names on it.

He will need to take his birth certificate to his medical, so yes, he will need this before he is appointed an interview date.

Do you happen to know approximately how long it'd take to receive a copy?

It depends as it differs county to county. Mine was done through Northumberland County Council and took 5 working days using their standard service and was posted second class. There is an expedited service that does it faster. It was £10. You can use the link I sent to find out what the price/timescale will be for your local authority. :)

Hi, if he lives close enough to the registery office where his birth certificate is stored he can make an appointment & pick it up by hand, also it might be wise to get more than one just in case.

Yes, I think I am mistaken and this is correct. Definitely needed for the interview though, of course.

Thank you so much everyone! This is definitely helpful. Very much appreciated!

Is a police report something he should request then? I've never heard about it. Apparently I'm the one who will be checking for everything for the both of us, hahah!

Thank you so much!

My fiance has also lived in Dubai for several years. Now I feel like this will be a complicated step since he is not in the UAE anymore.

I think his first step is to contact the UAE Embassy in London to get there advice & guidance, I don't think it will be difficult to get one but my take a little time, so have him contact them tomorrow by phone or if possible Email.

For a birth cert you can also just call the registrar of births deaths etc, where the birth was registered and order one over the phone. Cost me a tenner and took 10 days or so.

I would suggest you and your fiancee read the guides on here and also trawl through the US embassy London website.
