My fiancee and I went to her interview today at the Singapore consulate and she got a 221G white slip without keeping her passport. The CO didn't ask her to many questions after he realized I (petitioner) was present, but our two roadblocks were; that my divorce papers that were mailed to me finalizing my previous marriage not having a government "seal" or "stamp" and that we somehow forgot my fiancee's birth certificate at the hotel room ranting33va.gif

The CO told my fiancee that once we had those documents we should send em ASAP via Aramex and await an email response after a few days to send in her passport. We were pretty disappointed afterwards but we have now in our possession the birth certificate and I need to start moving on the stamped divorce certificate. Any insights?

you need a certified copy of your divorce certificate. contact the county clerks office where the divorce was finalised and they will issue one for you (usually pretty cheap, less than $20?). once you give them the missing documents, it shouldn't be more than 4 weeks (and that was over the xmas and new year's period for the person i am thinking of) for your fiance to get her passport back with the visa.

06-04-2007 = TSC stamps postal return-receipt for I-129f.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).

That's a breath of fresh air to hear. You are always so helpful. We really appreciate it.

The online registration system for Aramex is a pain. If I am reading this correctly, it looks like you have to drop off your documents at an Aramex office personally: http://www.ustraveldocs.com/sg/sg-iv-documentsubmissioninfo.asp Why not register in person there?

I think i saw you earlier being interviewed. I went in before you hehe (were u the one from Bangladesh?). And i was also given the 221G slip for certified copy of divorce decree and most recent police certs. Kinda disappointed too and worried how long would it take for them to continue the process again though consul say once received...about 2 weeks????

No, we're not the girl from Bangladesh but I do remember her getting interviewed. Its pretty crazy how similar our cases are though.

Hey Poweredbycorvette,

How did it go with your document re-submission?

Same case with my fiancee, she did not bring her original birth certificate at the interview and she have to resubmit the document via aramex. But she still keeps her passport.

Did you also include the passport when you dropped off your document at aramex?

What other documents did u include?

Thanks

I purchased a certified copy of my divorce decree and sent it in with our application-- I only have a copy now- they should have the original-- I been contemplating PURCHASING another divorce decree- but do you think that is necessary? I have nightmares about something like this coming up- as much as I plan and prepare--

its got to be devastating-- but out of our control after the fact.

yes, it's necessary. they want certified copies at the interview - at least in singapore. not sure about honduras, you might want to check in with your regional forum.

i don't know what country you're interviewing at but in singapore, you carry your original birth certificate to the interview. you do not need to send it in. the process for the consulate in your country may be different.

Well, I sent my ORIGINAL to USCIS- with my I130-- but I guess your right- would hate to be at the LAST STEP and they lost it or don't have it- so I went ahead and bought another original- lets look at it as a $50 insurance policy-- spent thousands why worry about something like that to screw things up--- soooooo tired of this..

better safe than sorry is what they say.
