Quickest is by phone. I called every 2 to 3 days, some call every day. No, they do not respond to emails.

Hi! I don't know if you email they'll answer. I haven't done that.

The reason why it's advisable to call them is because you find out at what stage your case is more quickly. Eventually you'll get the information by mail. But you can expedite your process if you call them, because you will know where your case is. Besides gives us something to do besides waiting smile.png

So, for example, our NOA2 was 1/24. We called and found out our case was received on 2/4. We'll probably get our numbers mid-March. We're now getting all docs ready, especially the time sensitive ones. When we get the numbers, they're ready to be mailed and we don't waste time. Now, if we were to wait for NVC or our lawyer, we'd be hearing only mid-March and then would delay 2 weeks to a month to get the paperwork ready and on my husband's hands!

Calling is something you choose to do or not.

First of all you should be calling NVC to find out when (and if) they received your case from USCIS. Once you know when NVC received it, count about 30 working days for getting your Case # etc. Again, you should start calling them after about 15 ~20 working days (from NVC receipt date) to get your Case #, Invoice Identification # and also to provide them with your email ID and beneficiary email ID.

Also, have you read Ms Saylin's first two posts at the beginning of this thread. I actually printed them out and kept them next to my computer. They are immensely helpful.

We're in Poland - my husband and I. Calling US is crazy expensive, that's why i wanted to contact them by email.

Hello all,

So we received the NOA2 on Jan. 13th, 2013. NVC received our petition on Feb. 6th.

Still no case number.

Should we be worried?

Also, they told me that no electronic processing is available for Mexican citizens (my husband is from/living in Mexico now). Is this going to slow things down a lot?

Thanks to all in advance!!

June 9th, 2013 - Mailed Application

June 11th - Priority Date

Dec. 19th - Transferred to TSC

Jan. 13th, 2014 - NOA2/Approval/Mailed to NVC

Feb. 6th - NVC "Received"

........

Myself and three others that I know of have the same received date as you and we have no case numbers either. Check out Saylin's spreadsheet- everyone from the 24th of January seems to be finished now so we've got a while to go. Plus 20 business days, excluding closures due to weather and holidays and weekends, is on Monday. Right now the NVC says 20-30 business days is the average for a case number. Hopefully our files be touched soon!

I am the petitioner (USC). My husband is Senegalese.

I know the feeling, I can't count how many times I rechecked my paperwork. My packet wasn't very complicated since I'm using the EZ form, but there's still that base level of anxiety just because it's so important. I was riding the elevator down with a colleague on my way to mail the packet this afternoon, compulsively rereading everything such that I forgot he was there until he commented how quiet I was oops8rh.gif It would've taken too much effort to explain the importance of the documents, so now he just thinks that I find the post office extremely engrossing laughing.gif Ah well. Back to living in limbo for a while!

I totally agree on the never been so eager to pay a bill!

I got the notice on Friday Feb 28th that I could pay, but I could not actually pay it until Monday March 3 in the afternoon. I checked it over the weekend - I know the NVC isn't open, but I was hoping that it would just auto update in the system or something. Haha.

I probably checked about 15 times monday morning before it actually let me pay! I was sooo happy to see the next page and print out the receipt.

Crossing my fingers for you that you get to pay it before the weekend! :)

tried calling NVC again and the line is always busy - do you guys just keep calling until you get through??

Yes. I usually have to call at least 15 times before the call goes through.

We're in Poland - my husband and I. Calling US is crazy expensive, that's why i wanted to contact them by email.

Are you calling with skype? I am usually on hold with NVC for 30 minutes and that 30 minutes cost me about 45cents on skype. It's not as cheap as free, but it's cheap enough for me to call twice a week until I get my case number!
