Greetings all

I just paid my AOS fee online and am preparing the AOS package. I had a quick question: are people using the I-864EZ form or I-864 forms, in the cases where the petitioner is sponsoring just one family member and no joint sponsors?

Any pros/cons of using one vs the other?

Thanks!

saylin, please help! we just fired our attorney because her secretary is not doing her job, she said she already paid for our AOS and IV but we called NVC they said our agent did not pay anything,, it's been two weeks since we have given our payment for both invoices,,

so we need help on how to go on with our nvc stage without an atty..i would appreciate your respond.

It's the same process, but you'll be doing it yourself. Read posts 1 and 2.

Thank you Saylin,.. so those people who sent AOS packages right after they paid the fee didn't include bar-coded cover sheets? Sorry to ask you again, but it's a bit confusing..

Nope. The bar-coded cover sheet becomes available as soon as you pay the bill. But, looks like you found it, so ;)

I want to expedite my case at nvc stage..

please give me the link or reasons that NVC accept for expedite case..

It's basically the same criteria as USCIS. So, go to USCIS's website and search for 'expedite criteria'. That'll get you to the right spot.

"This case is in the process of termination. Fee payments and online forms can no longer be accepted. If you believe you have received this message in error, or to resume processing of the case, please contact the NVC immediately."what is the meaning of this?? anyone?

Someone clearly hasn't read post 2 no0pb.gif

Congrats! I agree, I didn't received any checklist either and I thank visajourney esp. Saylin for that. Also it helps if you go back and read previous posts by others so you get to see other members checklist so you won't do the same mistake. I didn't even have to ask any question because some of the members would ask the same question so I just really read what other people post in the thread.

good.gifgood.gifgood.gifgood.gifgood.gif I give you a star_smile.gif for actually reading posts!!

You can use one or the other (as long as you qualify for the I-864EZ). If you qualify, I highly suggest you use the I-864EZ as it's a much shorter form, thus less chances of making a mistake!

I used i-864

i864ez is more easier to fill, but there are three things u need to qualify before u can use this form.

these three categories is on top of the form

i did not qualify so i used i-864

look at the forms but try to use ez since its easy, just like the name says

This is getting ridiculous. last week they said 10 biz days after DS-261 submission to get IV fee invoice. Now they say 10 to 15 biz days.

next week they will say 15 to 20 biz days. JUST PATHETIC!!!!! ranting33va.gif

i got the same reply too, days keep on getting more and more,

today is exactly 1 month since i filled ds261 and still no IV ,

Really frustrating

Hey, broken record here! We filled in our choice of agent form on 7th Feb and still our IV fees have not been invoiced. Called NVC three times and they are no help, just keep saying to wait. Are others in the same position or are we an anomaly? What is the hold up? Thanks

Same here, still same for last 1 month , still no IV fees.

Actually you're incorrect.

In Canada, while the petition for a partner living outside Canada may only take 30-120 days, the other part, the visa application part, can take months to years. For the USA the minimum time is 20 months. Within Canada it takes a minimum of 6 months for the petition and another 8-12 months for the visa application.

I know others from other European countries are moving to the USA because the visa process is easier towards the USA than to their home country.

The US visa process used to take 3-4 years for a spouse, now it's only 1-2. If you can't wait for a few weeks for your spouse, who CAN you wait for? But hey, if complaining on here, where everyone has gone through this process and we're here specifically to help you, makes you feel better by all means have at it. You may find yourself short of listeners quickly however.

Saylin really is a saint to do these monthly threads.

you are correct. patience is very important in this process. 100% agreed.

But please also understand that as humans we tend to break down and get frustrated with the system. In this age of technology, it should really not take 1-2 years for the whole process. they should improve this system. hire more staff and invest in better resources.

Also we are not waiting for a few weeks, we are waiting for months and months and there seems no end to this.

Well good news I guess NVC received our case on 3/3/14 no case number assigned as of yet. This process is seriously daunting and confusing so please bear with me if my questions seem a little stupid but I have read through the 1st & 2nd posts of this string and I'm a bit lost.

1) Once I get my assigned case number is that when I provide mine and my husbands email addresses over the phone?

2) Do I have to wait for the paperwork to be mailed to me to initiate the process of making my fee payments?

3) I have read several posts about side loading the cases before they go to the designated embassy some say its bad some say it's good. I'm just wondering have things changed here recently that I should reconsider sending phone records and such to the NVC.

Thanks in advance!

Oh and can someone tell me how to do the signature thing so that I can show my time line goofy.gif

1. Yes.

2. No. The moment you get the case number, please check the CEAC website (I think the link is in either post 1 or 2) to pay your bills. You should be able to pay at least 1 bill within a few days compared to about a week or so for NVC to mail you your paperwork to pay the bills.
