I got a false checklist tonight too! Calling again to make sure, because I don't trust just one answer from them. :P

Awesome! I mean, in the weird kind of way that incorrect information and misleading updates have always been exciting on VJ =x Did your checklist have the same text as mine re: IV civil docs?

Curious that I got an email invoice to pay the IV package and it shows up as a yellow triangle with a pay button but no checkbox to actually pay the thing yet. Government, take my money!

Lots of people have been getting that lately. It was incredibly annoying! All I wanted to do was pay the fee. Thankfully, that frustration only lasted a few days. I'm still laughing about how slow they were to actually let me pay the fee and how quick they were to take the money from my bank account.

I filed my 2013 taxes about 2 weeks ago by paper. I was wondering can I send my 2012 tax info with the AOS package since its before April 15th and then give them the 2013 transcript at the interview? Or should I just wait until my 2013 taxes is completed then send the AOS package?

They won't give your other half a visa without the 2013 return

Oh gosh! That's a whole new dimension of ####### to deal with. I can't stand when people go off on rants about illegals when they hear my husband is immigrating. I guess it's the only awareness of immigration they have, but they're not even close to the same thing! Fortunately Boston is a liberal city and I rarely get that reaction :/

I did not know much about immigration before this process - no strong opinion about it either way. It has opened my eyes and really given me more compassion for what people,go through. I live in NYC but work in Long Island. Two different worlds! The part of LI I work in is where the people who made all their money go to retire and be conservative ;) haha

I too am very thankful for this forum and for everything that VJ has taught me about this process. The worst part about it is that my husband lives in a small town, filled with, ahem, older people who are constantly going on about how in their day you just got married and that was it. Your spouse could come live with you in the US and it was perfectly legal. They don't understand how much the immigration process has changed..

If I had a dollar for every time I heard that, I could have paid all the visa fees with that!!! Lol

Question regarding the I-864 (trying to be prepared!)... would it be worth including an additional page noting that although I have filed my US returns in 11/12/13, the income received will be non-recurring as it was earned in Australia? And that I will look to secure employment/income in the US on relocation? We satisfy the assets test and also have a sponsor just in case, so we shouldn't have any issues on that front. I'm just not sure if because my tax was filed as foreign income if I should include an explanation on it. I was considering sending copies of my Australian tax returns just to re-confirm the lodgement here and that I have actually paid tax. Is that overkill?

Only US income matters to the Consular Officers (and by extension to the NVC).

I was told by Agent Jack back on 2/27/2014 that 2012 is fine for the AOS until tax day. If you're sending in your AOS before that, you're fine, but if your interview will be after tax day, then you will need to bring the 2013 return to the interview.

Mine says the following:

____-Fee Payment

You still need to pay the immigrant visa fee. You can pay online.... yaddada yaddada yaddada

When I called before and spoke to Agent Ariel: She told me that I got it because my AOS was reviewed and accepted, and it looked like it was all good. I'm calling now to double check that and make sure that they're showing my IV package is in the building.

Thanks. So I won't include any corresponding Australian documents. I have to list my my taxable income on the I-864 so that they know I have filed, so do I worry about including an additional page saying it will cease and that's why we have included our assets/sponsor?
