Hello VJ members,

I am about to send my n-400 package, I just printed my 3 year taxes from turbo tax, is that enough? or do I need to go to IRS website and print tax return? (applying for a 3 year rule - marriage to USC).

Hope somebody could help me with my question about taxes. Thank you so much.....

TurboTax copies don't prove they were actually filed with the IRS. Tax transcripts from the IRS Website does. Don't know if it makes any difference with USCIS though. You could probably do either.

You can go on the IRS website and order copies of the transcript and you can print them directly now otherwise they will mail them to you. I just got my copies for the past 3 years.

It's best to get your proper tax return transcripts straight from the IRS.

As mentioned above, your TurboTax data does not prove that you actually filed.

You are supposed to be able to print them right away, yes. Their system allows it since earlier this year. If that fails, you can have them mailed to you, it takes less than two weeks in my experience.

Just based on my "personal" experience, the tax return copies I made through the online tax prparer I used were fine and had no problem(s). As you have already read above others experience(s) have varied.

Best of luck!

Thank you very much for all your replies, really appreciated ! dancin5hr.gif

When I had my ROC, i just used my turbo tax and printed it and there's no problem. I've got my 10 year GC. According to my email, my federal and state tax were both accepted thru e-file.

To be fair, the naturalization document check list does say that tax returns are acceptable as evidence. IRS tax return transcripts are simply better :)

I tried and couldn't download my transcripts. I called and ordered them over the phone. I didn't realize I couldn't send just the copy of the returns. They said it takes about 10 days. I'm still waiting for mine. I had ordered the copy of my tax returns from 2009 and within 3 weeks I got the transcript.
