Is it true that K3 isn't treated as an expedited form of spousal visa anymore?

Just want to check regarding how K3 is being processed since I've read in here that it's seldom used now and that USCIS tend to just put together the I-129 and I-130 together. I thought it should be a better visa since it expedites the spouse but it seems not?

Please clarify or enlighten me on this. We are about to file ours very soon.

Thank you!

Use the "search button" up the top of the page. Your question has been discussed exhaustively.

That said, the K3 isn't available anymore and do not think it's any faster.

Years ago, when the I-130 took a couple of years to be approved, filing for the K3 still took several months at that time but was considerably faster than the I-130.

Since those days the I-130 has become quicker and is not taking any longer than the K3 to approve. So because the two petitions were usually hitting the NVC at the same time and the CR1 is a better visa to emigrate with as there is no AOS to file, the K3 started to be closed as soon as the two petitions hit the NVC and only the spousal visa was sent on the Embassy.

Thank you for the replies guys...I just want to make sure since my husband called US Immigration and he was told he still can file for the K3 but then upon reading here...it seems that mostly all wouldnt recommend the K3 which is making me confused in a way because Immigration said it's still good to file the K3.

The search function here at VJ is less than helpful. Try it yourself: type "K3" into the search box and hit enter. Nothing. No hits. no0pb.gif

Not true.

What browser are you running? When I have ghostery enabled, it blocks the calls to google, so I get no hits, but when I allow the trackers it works (see screenshot). Do you use similar browser plugins?

Alternatively, you can simply do the same thing directly on google, scoping the results to only visajourney. https://www.google.com/search?q=site%3Awww.visajourney.com+k2&oq=site%3Awww.visajourney.com+k2&aqs=chrome..69i57j69i58.4639j0j7&sourceid=chrome&espv=210&es_sm=91&ie=UTF-8#q=site:www.visajourney.com+k3

For my case the K-3 visa route didn't work. I sent in the I-130 waited to get the receipt notice then sent a copy of the receipt notice with the I-129f. The I-130 was processed and the I-129F was automatically canceled. I would have to agree with the other people its really useless now. According to USCIS CSC the average processing time for both petitions is 5 months. Just tested the search function and it works on my end.

and to add to this...US Immigration customer service said that K3 is not 'obsolete'. What I'm reading in here is quite conflicting on what Immigration told us that's what's making me confused. unsure.png

They say this because you can still technically apply for it (and you may very well get the I-129f petition approved), but we don't see anyone succeed in receiving the K3 visa on VJ anymore from embassies.

The customer service line is not known to be particularly useful. :P
