I really depends on the city and state your from ? For me I took 2 weeks and then I got a cancelation letter saying due to unforeseen circumstances. Then my status change again to in line for interview 1 week later . Then it's change the next day to you are schedule for an interview and I recieve my letter 3 days letter . You should check the process time for your city and go from there . For my city in takes 3 to 4 months.

I have been placed in line for interview since May 15. I checked my local field office processing time ( Atlanta,Ga) and they are working on cases from October 2013. This is ridiculously slow!!!!!!!!!!!!! They need to hire more people or do something about it!

Hi moe1985,

Can you please update your signature and timeline so that we can see your progress? Also, in order to see where they are with cases you need to go to "check your case status" on USCIS website and use the processing time for N400 for your state. I think you are using the incorrect one. However, Atlanta GA is way behind with a 7 month processing timeline. Thought no other state could be as far behind as New York!!! Hope they get moving soon.

You are checking the wrong processing section. Go to check case status and at the bottom select N 400 and then the state. Since the last update on April 2014, Atlanta has a 7 month processing time.

I went to my naturalization interview today June 17,2014, My interview was slated for 12:00 noon, got there at 11:30, a lady guard then asked me to put my appointment letter on the tray #2 ,I then sat to the waiting area and patiently waited my turn, the room had about 5 applicants and some folks with their lawyers and family, i was called in 12:02 to be exact by this very Nice IO, very pleasant and accommodating, ask me to swear prior to sitting and requested my green card and DL and said are you ready?Was a little nervous after all the good and bad experiences i read and heard about, i responded yes and He said we are going to do the hard part first and started with the questions:

1.Who wrote the declaration of Independence?
2.Who is the Commanding in Chief of the military?
3.What is the political party of the President now?
4.What are the two major political Parties in the US?
5.There were 13 original states.Name three
6.Name one state that boarders mexico.

He then give me a line that reads; "Who elects the congress" and have me write "We the People elects the congress"..

He went thru my N-400 line by line and have me signed my N-400 and my passport photo and then give me a paper that said had a checked mark you passed the civis test and also checked congratulation you have been granted for approval, and handed me my Oath appointment letter,and shook my hand ,congratulated me and escorted me out pleasantly ..... to summarize my experience i will say this man was the nicest IO, all documents i prepared stayed right in my bag and amazingly, my experience was a piece of cake and not even a little bit of difficulty, he realize i was nervous when i entered his office and said" just relax "you`ll be fine..It took 15 minutes for the whole interview.

I like to thanks every one for sharing their experiences good or bad it was very helpful in the process, and to those of you on the journey i wish you luck everyone:)

My Oath Ceremony will be held in Boise USCIS office in August 12,2014 at 9:15 AM.
